Question For The Day
Where, O where, is the NBA?
It was not that long ago that the NBA play-offs picked right up where the NCAA Tournament left off featuring 2 games on Saturday and 2 more on Sunday.
Now the only ones I have seen are 2 between the Lakers and the Spurs and maybe one between the T-wolves and the Lakers. For the past 2 Sundays there have only been WNBA games on, which is the equivalent for me of watching paint dry.
Maybe people are tired of school-yard basket-ball featuring players who never seemed to learn that the NBA isn’t the big Saturday afternoon pick-up game.
Believe me when I say that because I live in the Philadelphia area and have watched the whole Alan Iverson fiasco drama play out, one painful, adolescent scene after another.
There are no more Lakers balletic fast-breaks of the 80’s, or the slice-and-dice half-court offense of the great Celtic teams of the same period.
Or the Detroit Bully-boys.
Or the never-to-be-forgotten Chicago you-know-whos of the 90’s featuring good old what’s-his-name.
And there is precious little of the NBA on network TV now either.
