Help Is On The Way.  I Hope So.
Thank God that there is a Republican Convention coming.
There was so much hot air in the Fleet Center in Boston tonight that I thought it would lift up off its foundations and go sailing off into the warm summer night.
John Kerry proved several things tonight.
One is that he is a very good stump speaker reminding one of Elmer Gantry.
But that’s just the problem: hearing John Kerry talk about faith, family and patriotism when the party he represents has worked assiduously to destroy religion in American public life, attacked the family via the feminist/homosexual movement and has been trashing traditional American values for 35 years is hokum and nauseating.
And running as a war hero, a theme that was worked relentlessly in the acceptance speech, plus trying to say that dissent is not treason while voting against funding the war in Iraq and hob-nobbing with Al Sharpton and Michael Moore is also disgusting.
Republicans have to deal with the influence of corporations, racists and religious radicals in their party; Democrats have to deal with marxists, traitors and anarcists.
One thing was very clear: the Democrats will do and say anything to win in Novemeber.
Whether that will hold up over the long haul is another question.
Finally, there was a party mood tonight at the Fleet Center.
But there will be “a morning after” when John Kerry has to answer questions about abortion, “same-sex marriage”,  whether he will pull out of Iraq or possibly push on into Iran, about, as William Kristol has asked, whether Saddam Hussein would still be in power today if Kerry would have been President and about how  you work with allies who so blatantly betrayed us as the French did in the UN.  On the one hand Kerry said that he would not turn over any power to any outside institution, presumably meaning the UN, but you can’t have it both ways, Mr Kerry.  Either you say that we are going to let the UN  and other nations or the “spontaneous” street demonstrations influence us or we say that we are going to do what is in our best interest and what is right.
Regarding Iraq, it’s easy to criticize the policy in Iraq because the war on terror is an ugly
one with no easy answers but it is not enough just to ask questions.
        Anyone can do that.
What are you going to do about not just Al-Qaeda, Senator Kerry, but the broader and more important question of Islam?
If John Kerry meant what he said tonight, he has just cut himself from the base of the party that just nominated him.
How many references to race or homosexuals did you hear?
         We shall see.
PS I don’t know who is going to win the election.  I do have a feeling that most voters have already made up their minds.
I also feel that this election is not about the issues, even the war on terror, or even George W Bush.
It is about string, successful white heterosexual males running things.  If that is true John Kerry, did his best to portray himself as exactly that and that is the fundamental contradiction in the Democratic Party.
