Definition of `dad’ gets new test in court case
A lady gets pregnant and the biological father splits. She asks an old friend, who happens to also be an ex-boyfriend, to put his name on the birth certificate and assume a parenting role, including paying child support. He does, apparently out of altruism. A few years later, she no longer wants the man who has been acting as a father to her child to act any longer. Now the courts have to decide if the man is the father because of his actions despite the lack of his actual paternity. The true travesity is that the child is stuck in the middle.
