Congratulations to the Women’s American Soccer team for winning the Gold Medal in Athens.
They played like champions defeating, Brazil, a country noted for playing “beautiful” soccer and they conducted themselves with style and class afterwards as opposed to the last time they won when Brandi Chastain took off her team shirt to display her sports bra for the world.
Apparently Brandi has grown up.
Way to go, Brandi on your play and the way you handled yourself.
The Worst…
The “Dream Team”, a concept that was supposed to put a lock on the Olympic Gold Medal forever, instead has revealed what a bunch of ignorant ego-maniacs (with exceptions) who now play and pout in the NBA. And a special thank you to the 14 NBA players who were invited but just couldn’t find time in their schedule to represent the country that rewards them so lavishly for bouncing a ball.
One report featured a picture of Alan Iverson hanging his head after the game as well he should have.
Several years ago their was a conflict between Alan Iverson and his then coach Larry Brown be cause Iverson couldn’t seem to understand why he should show up for practice.
Larry Brown who advocated practice is now shining up his his NBA Championship ring which he won brilliantly by taking a bunch of guys I had never heard of and mopping up everyone in sight including the NBA “Dream Team”, the LA Lakers.
Alan is hanging his head and will continue to as long as the owners continues to exploit, coddle and continue to allow Saturday afternoon “Big Man On The Street” basketball instead of the real thing (see: Lakers’ 80′s fast-break, Celtics 80′s defense and half-court offense and of course the Bull of the 90′s who knew what they were doing.)
David Stern tries to peddle the line about how well the NBA is doing but they can’t even get a major network to sponsor their full roster of PLAY-OFF games.

The Absurd…
Using my calculator, I figured out that 95% of the Swift Boat men oppose John Kerry. After reading what he said about them, I can easily understand why. Here is a man who is running on his
war record, which gets more and more suspicious by the day, refuses to reveal his military and health records, made outrageous claims about the men he served with then refused to back them up (even Jane Fonda apologized in 1988) and has yet to mention anything serious about…what was the name again of that group that wants to destroy us?…Oh, yes…Al-Qaeda.
Maybe the Democrats for the good of the country should be allowed to hold a second convention in order to pick a different candidate.
