When Jim Rassmann fell into the water in Vietnam:
1. Could he swim? Nobody’s ask Mr. Russmann this. If he wasn’t injured, and he can swim, and wasn’t unconscious face-down in the water, couldn’t he have just tread water or swam to shore? I’ve been thrown into water before, once at a rope swing at a lake and once in a pool – both times someone helped me out, and both times I didn’t consider the help I received as life-saving.
