A Heroic Female Reader, LB, on Diamonds…
I just read about your hatred of the Kay Jeweler’s commercial in your blog, and I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who is sick and tired of that ad. Sadly, thats the way relationships between men and women really are. Kay would have you believe that a man’s worth is determined in karots – and they are right. During the Christmas season I am bombarded with my female friends discussing “diamond” this and “gold” that. Why spend what equals to a month’s rent payment on something that is probably going to end up lost anyway? And besides, why is it that the ring is a ‘better’ gift than having your significant other declare to the world that they love you? Keep an eye out for Mother’s Day. Last year Kaye ran a commercial urging men to buy their jewels in thanks for “turning a mere man into a father.” I assume men without children are worthless pieces of slime? I’m strongly considering having my cable tv disconnected due to the increasing anti-male sentiment in television, movies, and ads. As for Kaye, every kiss begins with my ass.
