I’ll admit, I’m not following this story closely. But if it is true that Karl Rove, in an act of political pettiness and revenge, outed a CIA operative which ultimately caused our country harm, Karl Rove has acted in a treasonous manner and should be punished accordingly.

The Newsweek weekly quoted Rove lawyer Robert Luskin as confirming that Rove was the source who gave information to Time reporter Matt Cooper under a pledge of confidentiality, and last week released him to testify about that conversation to a grand jury.

I haven’t been following the story either, but this seems like much ado ‘bout nothing.

Read the final line: “Andrea Mitchell was asked, on MSNBC, whether it was generally known to news people, before the hullabaloo, that Ms. Plame worked for the CIA. She answered, somewhat reluctantly, that it was. In the light of this, I don’t understand the ensuing fuss.”
