Americans could learn a little something from Britons in the wake of their recent terrorist attacks. Shirking rampant flag waving and tacky memorials, a little healthy indifference and stoicism may actually go a long way in the real psychological fight against terrorism.

    In war the semi-serious wisdom is that you can’t trust the French to fulfill their promises but you can ALWAYS trust the Brits.
    I served in the US Army in 1990 and 1991 in Saudi Arabia. Current soldiers please correct me if I’m wrong, I think our Army’s Divisions have 15 to 18,000 soldiers. The Brits in 1990 promised “a division” to support what was a real multi-national coalition. They put 37,000 troops on the ground (!) and they took on some of the most dangerous fighting. The British calm-under fire is legendary: from “Dr. Livingston” I presume” of history to “Bond, James Bond” of fiction. In the UK we have an ally and a friend. Our soldiers are doing their part; lets hope our political process stays the course and meets our commitments and faces our challenges half as well as the Brits do.
