Excellent piece, Rachel.

It recognizes that government has been playing increasingly activist role in politics, society, business, and marriage. And, western countries have been more than willing to adopt core principles of Marxism, Bolshevism, and even fascism where it appears convenient -- particularly in social issues.

Indeed, we have become so inured to these concepts in social policy that it is difficult to find conservatives that hold policy beliefs about marriage (and in particular policies that undermine it), tht are not founded on idealogies that actually destroy it.

Very few conservatives have seriously entertained the idea that heterosexual marriage is the natural vehicle for delivering equality between all humans (regardless of race) -- and therefore entitled policies such as welfare and divorce (which according to feminists are the preferred vehicle for delivering "equality"), are a bad thing that must be reformed or ended.

We effectively tease women into ending or aborting marriage, which in turn leads to poverty and a multitude of social and economic plagues. We ahve been complaining about the plagues for forty years, in beautiful language mourning the moral decline in marriage. But, it is not the morals of the people driving this problem -- it is billions of dollars in federal entitlements, and the policies that legitimize anti-family behavior, that are actually causing the problem.

Marriage is not a trap (as feminists dictate). Left to its own devices, it works pretty well most of the time. Realistic conservatives have little choice but to adopt a new position on marriage -- We should not force marriage on anyone, but we must end feminist programs that aggressively destroy it.

Of course, since anti-family policies and radical feminism (comprised of an acid brew of Freudian, Bolshevik, Marxist, Stalist, and fascist methodologies) have shaped the minds of the larger culture, education, and politics for over forty years, it is difficult to find individuals who are willing or able to step out to find solid conservative pro-marrige positions.

It is my theory that we cannot unwind the larger diaspora of "false equalitarianism" until we walk away from second-wave feminism in it's entirety. It is, in fact, post-1960 feminist thinking that drives all these strange beliefs in western cultures.
