[Previous instalments included The Minutemen: Why There Won’t Be Vigilianteism, MENS NEWS DAILY.]
For many reasons, a muster of America is being called that amounts to equal time for the voice of the average American citizen. With so many announcements made against our nation, America has shown her tolerance and patience valiantly, and it has not been appreciated, but abused. What’s the other side of the story?
The answer is interesting, as reported to me directly from The Minuteman Project, and supported by other media reports, and that is this: the composition of The Minuteman Project spans the entire political spectrum.
Minuteman membership is composed of Latinos and other Hispanics, Democrats, Libertarians, African-Americans, young people, old people, well, you get the idea. And you will see them in this newsmaking event.
Praise to these people who are our fellow Americans, just praise. Thank you very, very much for your service, every single one of you. True friends, all.
These reports of such a groundswell alone should dislocate the hostile movement against our sovereignty, but a follow-through is coming in the form of a cross-country caravan.
According to my friend Ed Williams of The Minuteman Project’s Board of Directors, the idea is to speak to U.S. Representatives during business hours in the above-board public forum. Called a rolling protest, the Caravan will begin in Los Angeles and drive town to town across the country making fuel stops in major cities, visiting with people and making information available toward its ultimate destination of Washington, D.C. and the Capitol lawn.
As per their reputation, the Minutemen will be peaceful, lawful and friendly in their drive and in their scheduled stops en route to the Capitol.
The objective is two-fold: Both Representatives and Constituents will have the opportunity to hear directly from Minutemen and their supporters just what it’s really all about, unfiltered. Media will be embedded with some of the Minutemen with remote broadcast capabilities to cover not only the message of the Project, but the reactions of the nation along the route.
How will America receive the Minutemen along the way? It will be documented in ride-along media coverage for the rest of the nation to see.
How can you participate and/or answer that question, too?
You can organize a Chapter: Gather others from your area and start a chapter. The opposition uses Myspace.com to gather support: so can you. When you have a team together, contact Ed Williams at Ed@MinutemanProject.com and he will send you more information. Gather others from your area and start a chapter. Participating in the Project is like voting; you’ll be heard, counted and appreciated for your involvement. You’ll have a say in the future of the nation. When Representatives do not hear from constituents, the presumption is indifference. Vote.
Speaking only for myself now, this is one of the most intelligent approaches I’ve seen so far in the sovereignty / border control debate. The Caravan will cross the nation coming into contact with more Americans than a single location demonstration or series of local walks would. The Caravan will make continuous contact with people along the way, and your voice will be reported better than reportage of a demonstration could.ÂÂÂ
It takes the time to speak with people and to answer questions. No more talking at people, but speaking with people, being available, face to face.
It is a friendly and strong message of encouragement to summon Americans of all creeds and colors to one purpose: It’s Okay To Be American, And It’s Okay To Stand By What That Means. No more intimidation under color of tolerance.
All are welcome. And be unafraid. Be very unafraid.
I can see a lot of good coming from the people who come out to meet the Minutemen as they pass through, the idea that you’re not alone in your feelings and values about your country, and that you can be heard by Representatives. That you can effect change from here.
And that would be good for the country.
