The Duke Rape Case: The Truth About Interracial Rape

The Duke University rape case is getting more media attention than the war on Iraq, the Iran nuclear threat and even the baseball steroid scandal. It’s even getting as much media attention as Tom Cruise’s newborn.
It’s a huge story not because it’s about a vicious, brutal rape — those stories occur daily throughout the United States; it’s getting enormous media play because it’s a case involving affluent, white male suspects and a poor black woman.
This is a case that’s ripe for the race demagogues who never miss an opportunity to exaggerate, spin and divide for political reasons. This latest case of white-on-black violence is providing black activists, feminists and liberals the ammunition they need to push their agenda forward: more legislated protections for blacks and for women, two major “victim groups” in American society.
But the activists, politicians and members of the press are working from a false premise and crime statistics bear that out.
Dr. William Wilbanks, former professor of criminal justice at Florida International University, contends that the current perception of white-on-black violence including rape and gang violence is based on myths created by many with a political agenda.
(In the name of full disclosure, Dr. Wilbanks and this writer go back quite a few years. I first interviewed him for the now-defunct magazine Crime Beat regarding police racism. Later, I met up with Wilbanks at a police memorial banquet in Miami. While his detractors accuse him of being a right-wing racist, in fact Wilbanks is a liberal Democrat.)
A top criminologist, Wilbanks has studied interracial crime for more than 25 years and he’s been quoted by some of the top journalists in the business including Pat Buchanan.
When it comes to interracial rape and sexual assault, the statistics contained in the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report and the Department of Justice’s National Crime Survey during Wilbanks’ study revealed that white rapists chose black victims 8,448 times.
However, black rapists chose white victims in 17,572 cases. In other words, according to Wilbanks, there were more than twice as many black-on-white rape cases as there were white-on-black cases. Overall white-on-black violence cases numbered 100,111, whereas black-on-white cases totaled 466,205. Therefore, blacks using violence against whites is over four times more likely than the reverse.
In New York, an incident occurred in 1988 that divided that city. A gang of white youths chased a black man onto a highway where he was struck and killed by an automobile. The prosecutors threw the book at the young men who were convicted and sentenced for manslaughter. The crime became known as The Howard Beach Incident and the case became a book and a TV movie-of-the-week. It was the case that pushed legislators to pass New York’s hate crime law.
On the other hand, recently a gang of black youths chased a white New York University student screaming, “Get the white boy!” The student ran into a city street and was struck and killed by an automobile. First, the police denied it was a hate crime. Then the prosecutors decided to try the case in Family Court, which means the worst these killers face is 3 years in a juvenile facility.
While the race-baiters would have Americans believe that a growing number of blacks are victimized by white gangs in the United States, the opposite is true.
The number of white-on-black gang attacks was 2,645, while the number of black-on-white gang attacks was 20,042. There were almost ten times as many black-on-white gang attacks as there were white-on-black attacks.
Interracial crime figures are even worse than they sound — and not for the reasons Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will tell you. Since there are more than six times as many whites as blacks in America, it means that any given black person is vastly more likely to commit a crime against a white than vice versa.
Now, I’ll submit this article and wait for the e-mail calling me racist, bigot and other epithets.

Jim, I am certainly NOT calling you a racist or bigot, simply for providing relevant information to the Duke rape allegations.
As the matter of fact, I appreciate you calling these pertinent details out.
Clearly those segments of the population that thrive on “victimization” for themselves and others of their demographic would prefer that everyone IGNORE such facts as you present and dwell on THEIR dogmatic assertions, truth be damned!
I suggest that the two sentences quoted above from your blog contain a typo error, though.

We’re in the same position as we are when it comes to American Muslims. While it’s true that most of them do not commit heinous acts, I can’t tell (just by looking) which is which. The only safe thing for me to do is to treat all encounters as a potential attack, until proved otherwise. Since I support a wife and children, I have no other choice. I must protect them, but I also must protect myself, for them.
If you Muslims, and you blacks want to be treated well, police your own. When it becomes a rarity for someone to be attacked by a person who looks like you, we will all have a much easier time in life.

I don’t agree with Hal. The racial ‘Balkanization’ of the America you describe is pitifully self-indulgent. Men must be judged first by their principles and their actions. Drawing the conclusion that you should treat all encounters with blacks or Muslims as a “potential attack” is counterproductive at the very least.
You can’t tell if an egg is fresh or hard boiled just by looking at it.

Staff is correct. Hal’s thinking is why men are seond-class citizens today; since most violent crimes are commited by men, should we assume any encounter with a male is a potential assault? Since most crimes are committed by persons under 25 years of age, are all young people now automatically suspect? Most crimes occur after dark; impose a dusk to dawn curfew? Or maybe we should ombine them all together, and just lock up all young black male Muslims outside after nightfall?

The average person, having little understanding of statistical analysis and none at all of the perils of hasty generalizations and inductive fallacies, starts trying to “profile” like Hal did, and gets it mostly wrong. They then excuse their obscenely high failure rate on the grounds that it’s “for the protection of my wife and children”. This sort of thinking leads to lynch mobs and rioting. It’s worse than useless.

Are you the type who goes around lynching people?. I’m not. I’m a Christian, who has raised children to love everyone, and they do. But I didn’t raise them to be stupid, and I didn’t raise them to get themselves killed. Obviously, you are a young liberal, who hasn’t been mugged yet. If you survive until true adulthood, you just may understand. You’re childrens’ safety comes before any touchy-feelgood stuff.

This is a typical liberal lie. I dare you to come up with more than a couple of innocents killed in any city of your choice, in any year of your choice. Far more cops are killed each year by dirtbags than are innocents killed by cops. Far more innocents are killed by blacks than the total of all people killed by cops each year. And most of those killed by blacks are other blacks.
Your idiotic comment about profiling shows just how lacking in common sense you liberals are. Go into the real world, and give your liberal theories a real try. Go into the inner city after dark, after midnight. The next morning there’ll be one less lib in the world.
