Host Matters, the hosting company for a long list of popular conservative blogs, was the target Friday of a prolonged Denial of Service Attack originating in Saudi Arabia.
Early Friday, the Host Matters forum posted announcements indicating that an unspecified website had been targeted.
Effected blogs included Instapundit , Power Line, Captain’s Quarters, and Hugh Hewitt.
The attack also covered by Michelle Malkin, who provided a full list of the blogs effected. Most effected blogs were returned to service by late afternoon on Friday.
The blog aarons.cc was later identified as target of the DOS attack. A blog entry at arrons.cc attributed the attack to his depictions of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad. Iconographic representations of Muhammad are forbidden among Muslims.
