    1. wls said,

What I don’t understand in light of LaSalle’s family court
experience is why MND’s evident editorial policy is to
discourage or reject discussion of developments in family
law and court practices, especially those relevant to or
      directed toward reform.

Some of it isn’t very glamorous or entertaining, but if
we don’t inform ourselves on what we face, and engage the
process which forms and sustains the system, we’ll never
get out of the hole in which we currently find ourselves.

On another topic touched upon in “Dr Helen,” I suggest
people look at international economics probably more than
gender politics in seeking to understand patterns in the
      demand for education. Professional, career-oriented
fields of study traditionally favored by men—like
engineering, science, and some aspects of finance and
business—are increasingly problematic for Americans to
make a decent, lifelong, living in. The tangible
economic benefits of pursuing a higher education have
become murky and far from clear-cut: while I continue to
believe it worthwhile to learn, I’m not sure what we as
honest parents should be counseling our children.
