I gather the author was intending to convey the idea that “We” have become used to this and the supports and services are not set up for the extra capacity.
Or maybe she genuinely believes that natural selection has made us this way.
If this is the case, then we have another great example of how a witless ideas produces nothing but more witless ideas.
