Sen. John Danforth invented the Parents as Teachers program, founded on the notion that is is insane to let a woman go home with a newborn child without a social worker in the living room. It is now federal law. Republicans passed PROWA, which uses the "deadbeat dad" mantra to create a system that has rights to invent taxes on men and take it using powers the IRS never even dreamed of getting. Republicans gave control of social issues in Congress to Democrats, by making Democrats committee heads. Republicans turned the family over to Democrats after passing PROWA so they would not have to deal with it. Now, Republicans are in a ton of trouble because we are holding them responsible for what they did. The vast majority of federal problems such as poverty, health care, medicaid, retirement, and bankruptcy, that Congress cannot fix point back to divorce and illegitimacy as the source of the problem. Republicans will continue to be in desperate straights until they acknowledge their grave mistake, assert authority over social issues, and then do the right thing about it. I am normally a big picture guy, but the eloquence and simplicity with which you tied these different movements together really impressed me. Until now I had not really been sure of the greater (beyond legal) value of the FL Stand Your Ground law. It is almost an agenda to build a party around. Or better yet a movement. I think most people will naturally come down on the right side of these issues, but you have to incorporate them into election campaigns and into laws. One other thing I like about this is that it gives us a large number of relatively non-monolithic issues to attack. The elephant is easier to eat one bite at a time. As long as SCOTUS rules the law with assumptions and usurptions, True Patriots are reduced to hiding their guns. Policy number Two is the immunity enjoyed by public officials who swear to uphold the Constitution, then proceed to keep It handy only as toilet paper. Policy number Three is to rid ourselves of this thing called the American Bar Association, and put discipline of bad lawyers into the hands of American Jurors. Keep in mind, True Liberty is the freedom to do as one pleases, as long as that freedom does not interfere with the Rights and freedoms of others. This includes freedoms that you or I would find dispicable or disgusting. Let Liberty flourish, the chips fall where they may.
