Yes, given the fact that New England liberals keep re-electing Ted Kennedy no matter how abyssmal his ethical history is, I’d say this article was spot on. And, it’s really quite sad.

Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s decision Friday to return to drug-abuse rehabilitation after a traffic accident appears unlikely to have an impact on his political fortunes, political analysts say.The Rhode Island Democrat “is a Kennedy; he’s got that celebrity status,” said Stuart Rothenberg, publisher of The Rothenberg Political Report, a non-partisan newsletter.
“People expect the Kennedys to be in the headlines, and not always in a favorable light. There’s been no groundwork done for any serious opposition to him” in this November’s election, Rothenberg said.
One voter in the heavily Democratic district, Rose Iovini, 78, of Providence, said Kennedy is “a sick boy, and he’s doing the right thing. Politics shouldn’t come into it.”
About 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Capitol Police saw Kennedy  the son of Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.  driving erratically near a House office building in Washington before running into a security barricade.
Before officers on the scene could administer a sobriety test, police higher-ups intervened and took the congressman home, said Jim Pasco, executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police, who said his knowledge of the incident came from speaking with union officials representing the officers involved.
Oh sure, politics shouldn’t come into it. If you’re a liberal that is. If you’re a conservative, all you have to do is look at somebody cross-eyed and the entire Democratic party will be calling for your resignation.
