Under the Bush administration, industry lobbyists have gotten to practically write the laws. Since Bush took office, the number of registered K street lobbyists have doubled and lobbyist fees have doubled and in some cases tripled. Clinton was certainly no stranger to the corrupting power of the purse, but the Republicans have taken corruption to a whole new level by basically turning government over to monied interests. Witness how Enron got to select its own energy regulators and industry representatives are now in charge of a whole host of government agencies which are supposed to oversee and safeguard the American people from the abuses of the industries. The fox is now guarding the henhouse. These bums need to be thrown out of office.
