Of course, you know what Nifong is doing. The lying bastard is going to take the case to trial, hoping to get it in front of an all-black jury from the local community, a community upon whom he has already played the race card quite craftily, whipping them into a frenzy of victimist self pity with the help of the MSM. He’s hoping such a jury will find these guys guilty regardless of the evidence, or any lack thereof.
If Nifong is doing this to the lacrosse players, then we must suspect that he’s done it to others as well. Prosecution solely for the sake of personal gain is simply evil, and anyone who does it deserves not only to be disbarred, but to face an obstruction of justice charge as well. The proper punishment for such behavior is some long years in jail, preferably with some of the men who have been unjustly put away. Unfortunately all too common, it is a prime example of what is wrong with our criminal justice system.

Prosecution for the sake of personal gain is the norm. A prosecutor’s goal is to make charges stick. I’ve seen grand juries return “true bills” because the DA asked for it, no other reason. I imagine the conversation in the grand jury of this case went like this: “Yeah, these guys are guilty. They raped this girl, we got ‘em cold.”
Then the local grand jury made up of local black women returned the indictment. No discussion necessary. In the end, it won’t matter if Nifong is acting improperly if he wins convictions against the lacrosse players. Convictions and political points are the only goals in play, truth and justice are meaningless. After all, Nifong is a Democrat.

“The defense attorneys are there to muddy the waters,” Early said. “You can’t expect anything they say to be said without viewing it through their own prism. They’re there to obfuscate the facts. They’re not there to educate the public.”
Sounds a lot like what the AP is doing with this very article, and what the left-wing press does every day. Why should Nifong bother when he has most of big media doing it for him.
Basically, this article is a cheerleading session meant to incite a pity party for a prosecutor who is concerned with race and sex instead of guilt and innocence. Sorry, AP, but according to your own political correctness, a white male cannot be a victim, and I’m not going to feel sorry for one just because he looks like a fool championing your racist and sexist agenda.
Clearly, there are no facts in the article, its just an attempt to “muddy the waters…viewed through their own prism…there to obfuscate the facts…not there to educate the public”.

I was just thinking that this case is going to help bring to light a number of uncomfortable truths including that false rape accusations are common, that prosecutors and grand juries can easily go forward even with the slightest evidence, that the justice system doesn’t let white males off easily, etc.
But then again, I just remembered how strongly leftists and white guilt proponents will go to justify their position: Katrina was caused by GW, AIDS was a government experiment to exterminate blacks, etc. Feminists, like the race baiters, really believe all that stuff. They’re nuts.
The question is whether the rest of society, more enlightened minds (and voters), will continue to buy into it.

The case won’t even go to trial until spring 2007? What the hell? What kind of BS is that?
I’m wondering now if they’re hoping that time from now will take attention off the case and it can be resolved “quietly” at a time when the American public’s focus will be on something else *a freaking year from now*.
In the meantime, these guys will be living under this stigma of this situation without any resolution. Classic, and sickening.
