On May 2002 my wife told the police that it looked like I was going to hit her.

The police arrested me, and then threw me in jail, if only for a half hour. I was charged with battery.

The criminal court threw the case out as my wife took two days to tell the police. The state reasoned that, if she was felt afraid, then she would contact the police sooner, however, the charge stayed on my record for 2½ years.

Later in family (civil) court, though my wife testified that I never hit or pushed her, the family judge issued a two year Order of Protection against me.

My attorney ($350/hr, 25 yrs experience) said that, with this document, if my wife felt threatened and I was in another state speaking on the telephone, then she could have me arrested. He added that I would serve time in jail.

Being a heterosexual white conservative male citizen is not secure and safe.

Violence Against Women Act works in congress too: protecting women while ignoring the innocent.

The idea of "equal in the eyes of the law" is seen for what it really is: a joke. As with the Duke rape case, what really goes on is the fact that the law is applied precisely on the basis of who a person is rather than the facts and equal application of the law for all. The fact that one of the nations lawmakers gets special treatment for what she is, namely, a Black female member of Congress tells us that even Congress does not believe in equality under the law. Certainly if a white male member of Congress slapped a black female officer he would be forced to resign, thrown in jail, and face a future civil case taking as much from him as possible. In the Duke rape case the evidence is stacking up against the accuser. This never should have made it to a grand jury, and the case should have been dropped a long time ago. The accused are upper middle class white guys.

Add to this that everyday men are screwed in family courts, employment, harrassment charges and other lawsuits, and are discriminated almost everywhere in society.

Why on earth white heterosexual men have not delared war on this country by now is a mystery to me.

"Frankly, the best thing to have happened would be for her to be charged and have to do community service - say 400 hours - for assaulting a police officer."

I disagree.

The best thing to have happened would have been for her to be indicted, charged, and convicted for felony assault and battery, and forced to resign from her elected office.

If a white male Republican Congressman had slapped a police officer…..

…… he would have been hounded out of office, indicted and charged with felony assault and battery.

Instead, that piece of human offal gets off lightly, with providing a fairly lame apology.

American justice depends upon whether one is born with a penis or a vagina…………..

…….not to mention political affiliation and skin color.

As a black female Representative from the Democrat Party, McKinney can probably assault anyone she cares to without fearing any indictments.

Whatever happened to “equal rights”?

Doesn’t it follow “equal responsibilities”?

American justice has become a farce, with different standards for behavior, based on sex, political party and skin color.

You had better believe that many of America's feminists were heartened to see more evidence of their work, through the outcome of this particular case.

Perhaps the Capitol policeman she struck can sue her for every penny she has, but in this sorry example of America's double standards......

........ Justice Hung His Head.

I guess maybe the "new black panthers" intimidated them from pressing charges.
