SF Bay Area: Home to the Liberally Insane?
In the interest of debunking numerous myths and exaggerations concerning liberalism in the San Francisco Bay Area, it is essential to disclose certain facts:
-It is NOT unlawful to vote Republican in San Francisco;
-A special permit is NOT required to fly the American flag, except on Cinco de Mayo day;
-Speaking English is NOT a hate crime, except at fast-food restaurants, car washes and when speaking to those obviously here illegally;
-Flag-burning is NOT taught at state universities by convicted arsons and volunteer pyromaniacs;
-Bay Area newspapers are NOT edited & published in Moscow;
-Law enforcement job applicants are NOT required to prove they are transvestite, gay, handicapped or a racial minority in order to qualify;
-The minimum wage is NOT $25.00 per hour (plus benefits), and is NOT an inviolate human right;
-Refusing to smoke marijuana when asked to by a police officer is NOT a felony;
-Working at Wal-Mart is NOT against state law, provided one can prove one is an illegal alien;
-Attending the church of one’s choice on a regular basis does NOT automatically subject one to higher property taxes;
-Abortions are NOT available on The City’s cable cars, but may be arranged through room service at most major hotels, and at progressive piano bars;
-Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer are NOT co-chairs of the San Francisco Mensa society;
-Exhaling second-hand smoke is NOT a special circumstance crime that makes one eligible for the death penalty if convicted;
-English-speaking seniors born and raised in the Bay Area are NOT required to demonstrate Spanish proficiency in order to qualify for social security;
-Displaying the logo of the US Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines does NOT violate city or county ordinances, and is NOT necessarily an arrestable offense;
-Arabic-speaking terrorists are NOT a protected minority;
-Being a straight, white, employed, Christian male does NOT require one to notify the police before moving into a new neighborhood, and
-Seeing Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ is NOT mandatory as long as one has concrete plans to leave America permanently within the next 90Â days.
So while liberalism IS a severe and debilitating mental disorder afflicting millions of Bay Area residents, the good news is that an effective antidote, in the form of conservative values and common sense thinking, is in place and prospering!
John Lillpop is a recovering liberal, "clean and sober" since 1992 when last he voted for a Democrat. Pray for John: He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where people like Nancy Pelosi are considered reasonable! | More from John Lillpop

This is good stuff, John. I lived in Marin Co. for years and the attitudes there are scary. My main pet peeve with San Francisco has always been how crime and bad manners are celebrated. There are just so many homeless on the streets who look well fed but aggressive and opportunistic due to the non-profits that take care of them.
The worst is when a group of filthy homeless will seat themselves in a decent restaurant, be served and throw some fit about service; of course walking out without paying.
The Bay Area is one place where it seems if you break the rules, you are the hero. Just being a “good citizen” and doing what is right is considered reactionary.

Thanks, dierdre.
The infuriating thing to me is liberal intolerance, despite their mantra of being tolerant. Hypocritical oafs!

That’s what it is, intolerance.
Here’s a typical SF story. Two years ago, the liberals were complaining that not enough people use mass transit. Polls showed that ordinary people to some extent were afraid of the people on the trains and busses. The problem? Well, the liberal elite never use mass transit, and the liberal social workers give free mass transit passes to every drunk, homeless or crazy person.
Ordinary people didn’t want to ride with filthy or dangerous passengers, so ridership stats went down. The reaction from liberals? “Intolerant suburban whites” were blamed and two new city programs to combat racism were initiated.
So, I think it’s a combination of intolerance and denial of reality. San Francisco pretends to be the most sensitive and progressive place, but every policy and every social movement is contrary to human nature, or common sense for that matter.
San Francisco is an incredible city. It would be a dream come true if Rudy Guiliani could come in with full legal power, break the unions, close all the non-profits, reform health policy and create a clean and crime-free city.

Classic story of stupidity, San Francisco style.
Deny the truth in favor of PC, blame the victims and invent new programs to waste tax dollars. THAT is always the liberal way in The City.

Living in California in the Los Angeles area, where things are not a lot better than San Francisco, I can’t help but notice that San Francisco takes liberal leftism, well, further left. Okay we have Hollywood and Santa Monica which are probably equal to San Francisco, and Democrats in reality own the CA government.
The sad thing I see is that even in conservative areas the hatefulness of leftist laws is used to destroy the lives of the un-politically correct. In those areas like San Francisco, Hollywood and Santa Monica, hate is exported to all other areas of the state. One need look no further than the state lawmakers in those areas to the see that hateful agenda being foisted on the rest of us who want nothing to do with their tyrannical intolerance of America‘s fundamental values and laws.
The spirit of Joe Stalin is alive and active in liberal, leftist politics in Sacramento (CA State Capitol) right now as we speak.

I used to live in CA including the S.F. Bay area and it really is amazing what has happened to that state over the past 20 years. The legislature and courts are dominated by feminist and gay interests throughout that state. The people of that state are heavily propagandized and it’s really amazing how so many of them follow the liberal point of view.

Denis—I have lived here for years. And I am amazed that we have elected and re-elected both Barbra Boxer and Diane Feinstein. Utterly amazing.
And disgusting!

In two years I will finally be leaving Kalifornia and the three stooges, Pelosi, Boxer and Feinstein.
Yay!!
