Dean Of Hypocrisy

At one time, there were some that considered Rush Limbaugh to be the “most dangerous man in America”. I would guess some thought one man’s ability to arouse conservatism into an ideology that would carry clout would be too much power in one man’s hands.

With that, I contend Democrat Party Chairman Howard Dean may not be the most dangerous man in America, but he’s pretty damn close. Not just because he considers hurling bombs at our Commander–in Chief during wartime his virtuous honor as a patriotic American, but because if one were to listen to his ravings, he’s either a pathological liar or insane.

And he has hundreds of thousands of followers….

On July 15, Mr. Dean added his two cents worth in regards to the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the groupthink safety of San Diego State University. Besides telling his little brainwashed college (okay, I won’t call them brownshirts) students to, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune “fan across the nation – including deep into the heart of Republican-rich ‘red’ states – to tell voters that Bush has failed as president – including in national defense, which Republicans tout as their core strength.”

“There are a lot of things we can say when we knock on the door of voters. You know, people say the Republicans are tough on defense. How can you be tough on defense if five years after 9/11, Osama bin Laden is still at large, the Iranians are about to get nuclear weapons, North Korea’s quadrupled their nuclear weapons stash…. Explain to me how it is that this president is tough on defense? I think this president is weak on defense and he’s hurt America because he hasn’t done the right thing,” Dean told hundreds at San Diego State’s Open Air Theatre.

According to the Union Trib, “Dean was the keynote speaker on the second day of a three-day conference called DemocracyFest, billed as part conference, part festival for progressive activists.”

Kinda sad I missed it. Sounded like a good ol’ fun time.

Dean, who was introduced by comedian and radio host Al Franken, said President Bush’s decision to go to war against Iraq and his overall foreign policy have hurt America’s standing in the world.

“This country is in the worst shape since Richard Nixon, and probably before that. We’ve lost the high moral high ground everywhere in the world. We want to be respected around the world again. We want our moral authority to be restored, because part of defending America is not just well-armed troops; it’s having the high moral ground.”

He continued….

“If you think what’s going on in the Middle East today would be going on if the Democrats were in control, it wouldn’t, because we would have worked day after day after day to make sure we didn’t get where we are today. We would have had the moral authority that Bill Clinton had when he brought together the Northern Irish and the IRA, when he brought together the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

Okay, we’re definitely on the brink of insanity when the words “Bill Clinton” and “moral authority” are used in the same sentence.

But what would Chairman Dean have us do? He did at one time say the “idea that we’re going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong.”

He once said, “It turns out there is a lot of good evidence that President Bush did not tell the truth when he was asking Congress for the power to go to war. The President said last week that Congress saw the same intelligence that he did in making the decision to go to war, and that is flat out wrong.”

Forgive me, as much of this is review for most of us….

So Dean is sure President Bush lied about the Congress having the same intel he did. If that’s the case, why on February 4, 1998 (which was before George Bush was elected) did President Bill Clinton say, “One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”

Less than two weeks later, Clinton added, “If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”

But Bush lied, people died.

Dean said, “The President withheld some intelligence from the Senate Intelligence Committee. He withheld the report from the CIA that in fact there was no evidence of weapons of mass destruction (in Iraq), that they did not have a nuclear program.”

But on February 18, 1998 (which was before George Bush was elected), Clinton Secretary of State Madeline Albright stated, “Iraq is a long way from here, but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.”

But Bush lied and people died….

Clinton National Security Adviser “Lightfingers” Sandy Berger said on February 18, 1998 (which was before George Bush was elected), “He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”

Future House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on December 16, 1998 (which was before George Bush was elected) said, “Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”

I’m quite sure Howard Dean could explain to the San Diego State students how President Bush made the false case for weapons of mass destruction just like Florida Democrat Senator Bob Graham and others did when they sent a letter to him on December 5, 2001 that in part read, “There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.”

But Bush lied and people died.

Would Chairman Dean please explain why Al Gore said on September 23, 2002, “We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country. Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.”

President Bush must have hoodwinked Al Gore as well.

I’m sure Howard Dean can explain why Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy on September 27, 2002 said, “We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is developing weapons of mass destruction.”

At that point, many years would have been before George Bush became president.

It must be an anomaly that West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd on October 3, 2002 declared, “We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons.”

And I’m sure if he were there, Chairman Dean would ask Massachusetts Senator John Kerry on October 9, 2002 why he said, “I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”

Yeah, I know that President Bush was so slick that he managed to keep the Democrats on the same page they were four years earlier regarding those non-existent weapons. Because if Democrats were in charge, they would have discovered that Saddam was really a pussycat and just needed a calm talking to.

So again, Dean said…

“If you think what’s going on in the Middle East today would be going on if the Democrats were in control, it wouldn’t, because we would have worked day after day after day to make sure we didn’t get where we are today. We would have had the moral authority that Bill Clinton had when he brought together the Northern Irish and the IRA, when he brought together the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

Okay, the Northern Irish and IRA thing is still stable for the most part, but Bill Clinton didn’t really bring the Israelis and Palestinians together. Maybe Chairman Dean can fool a bunch of liberal-indoctrinated youth, but if they take the time and read something other than the New York Times, they’d find that Yasser Arafat duped Clinton.

Some people can’t be trusted, even when you’re just talking….

In talks mediated by Clinton at Camp David in 2000, Arafat rejected an offer that would have created an independent Palestinian state because it did not grant the Palestinians full control over East Jerusalem. Arafat’s decision was widely hailed by those same Palestinians who later danced in the streets while thousands or Americans were crushed in the imploding World Trade Center towers.

As we all know, Israel forcibly moved her own citizens off the West Bank and returned the land to those nice Palestinians. In return for the talks and return of land as a goodwill gesture, Israel was thanked with increasing, brutal suicide bomb and missile attacks.

Israel knows when it comes to negotiating with terrorists, talk is cheap. However, if Dean had won the presidency, he may have found that out the hard way as part of his on-the-job-training.

As we know from the world war Imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany, beating them is how one achieves peace. Al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah are now going to find that out the hard way. It’s unfortunate that these terrorist regimes could give a damn about their own civilians and use their deaths as public relations tools to a sympathetic liberal American media and political party. Chairman Dean needs be very careful of who he wished to “talk” to.

“Acting under direct orders from senior Iranian government leaders, the Saudi Hezbollah detonated a 25,000-pound TNT bomb that killed 19 U.S. airmen in their dormitory at Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The blast wave destroyed Building 131 and grievously wounded hundreds of additional Air Force personnel. It also killed an unknown number of Saudi civilians in a nearby park.”

— Louis J. Freeh, former Clinton FBI Director

Chairman Dean wants to sit down and talk with Hezbollah? More power to him.

As Dean continues to get a pass on accusing the President of fudging pre-war intelligence, and does so to a bunch of awe-struck, gullible college students, let’s be thankful that Dean is neither a tenured professor or President of the United States.

And let’s hope that the Israelis don’t find out the hard way that the weapons of mass destruction that never existed weren’t hidden in Syria while the United Nations was “talking.”

How would Chairman Dean talk his way out of that?
