Syracuse Rally for John Murtari
.

.

.

.

.

.

Supporters of John Murtari and Equal Parenting rallied in front of the Onondaga County Courthouse in New York last Wednesday, passing out informational flyers and speaking to the media about the need for family law reform.

.

Mothers and fathers rallying together for these changes…I have to ask, when will our politicians start to listen?
.

.

A demonstration in support Equal Parenting was also held in Ottawa, Canada, as well as a candlelight vigil for John Murtari.

John wants me to thank everyone who is helping to get the message out, and those who are helping financially. He enjoys the letters you’ve sent, and so far has been able to write back to each of you.

His address:

John Murtari
POD 2A-5
555 South State Street
Syracuse, NY 13202.

Real Fathers For Justice plan a Prison Break-in!

.
from www.realfathersforjustice.org:

Real Fathers For Justice [Aug. 13] threatened a mass prison break-in if one of their leading activists is sent to jail.
Mike Downes is due to appear at Trafford Magistrates Court on Tuesday for pelting Ruth Kelly with an egg in February this year. Downes, who was described by magistrates as a ’serial egger’ has been told he faces a custodial sentence.
A spokesman for the group said: “We’re planning Britain’s first ever prison break-in. We intend to bypass the court system and go straight to jail. We’ll even be supplying our own prison uniform to save time on the admission process. It will be an act of solidarity never before seen, and we’re in no doubt that once we’re in they’ll keep us there. “
The group claims to have penetrated security earlier this year by smuggling a pair of police handcuffs into Portcullis House, where chancellor Gordon Brown was addressing the Transport and General Workers Union. In May one of their members handcuffed himself to children’s minister, Beverly Hughes, during a visit to the G-Mex Centre in Manchester.

The Internet’s Best Kids’ Divorce Site, By A Kid

.
Bill’s Arena is a website for kids whose parents are divorcing or who are having custody issues. Bill is fourteen years old, and like many children of divorce, wants equal time with both parents. Bill is organizing a walk for Equal Custody for February 20, 2007. Like John Murtari, Bill is inspired by Gandhi to use nonviolent action in his advocacy. Way to go Bill, keep it up!

Fathers4Justice/Canada Rocks in Vancouver’s Pride Parade
.

.

.

From Rob Robinson, Canada’s first Batman:

Greetings from Vancouver BC Canada and the Bat.

Sunday, August 6/2006, Vancouver BC F4J Superheroes and supporters participated in one of Canada’s most colourful and popular parades, The Vancouver Pride Parade.

At precisely 10:30 am the F4J Mobile, a 22-foot white stretched limo, with our web addy painted down the sides of it, arrived at the parade marshaling area carrying the Amazing Spiderman, Superman, The incredible BC Hulk, the Burnaby Batman, and supporters. For the next hour we waited like everyone else and there was plenty to see. “Wow,” is all I can say, lol.

At precisely 12 noon the parade with the F4J mobile being #33 out of approximately 130 entries, began. The Parade route was about two hours long with official estimates claiming 250,000 people in attendance this year. All I can say was, “It was absolutely overwhelming and all I could see was a sea of people.”

Special thanks go to those who organized this year’s Fathers4Justice participation – Vancouver Superman – Also special thanks go to the incredible Hulk – F4J Parade Captain – Robin QC – for taking care of us all and being the butt of all our jokes, lol. Also special thanks go to our flag man who once again came through for us in such short notice and to all those who helped in whatever capacity they were able.

A quarter of a million people received our message yesterday and maybe more. That’s something to be proud of people. Fine job and Vancouver loved us as was evident by their continuous cheers and clapping.

Furthermore………. The day was not over at that point as our superheroes hastily left at the end of the parade for their next destination, Senator Jerry Saint Germain’s Ranch in south Surrey BC where there was a fund raiser picnic being put on by the new conservative government for dedicated volunteers etc.

.

The F4J mobile arrived just after the Prime Minister of Canada had departed and were refused entry by authorities however were allowed to stand outside of the ranch with banner for a spell, long enough for some pictures and friendly chat with the cops.

Our last stop was along marine drive in White Rock BC where another Parade had begun. Once again spectators lining the streets greeted us with cheers and once again we were seen by thousands.

All in all a successful adventure once again and never a dull moment.

A prison break-in! I have planned some wild demonstrations in my years, but this takes the cake. My compliments to the person who thought of this. There is nothing that would make the point more quickly and clearly than folks trying to BREAK IN to prison. We have to turn the system inside-out on itself to win, and by all accounts, this meets the criteria.

It would be and extra nice touch to add King Kong and the Pillsbury doughboy to the cast of super heroes.
