I was reading the article and it shows that he wasn’t such a bad guy nor was the wife suffering in squalor or abuse. I don’t get it: How are such women suffering if the man is away at work all the time? What seperation would a divorce provide them if the men are already emotionally distanced?
I was shocked that the man’s own son treated him like an outcast after he helped to pay for his home. I’m not totally surprised though: Japan has been westernized somewhat due to the U.S. occupation.

Actually, I think you have it all wrong. Now that Japan is westernized the Muslims will be flying planes into Japanese buildings too.
