Well, I noticed my Hopeless Romantic hasn’t risen to the bait, on or off Blog.  I’ll take that as an “Uncle.”  I have had some interesting comments from other sources, and I’ll address them in general.

It’s true the “universal benefit” is a high bar that I set, and it was essential to make the point, namely, that for a man to benefit from a marriage many intangibles have to line up.  The other side  of this is that even by making good choices and being careful, a man in a marriage only approaches a “break even point” (as a general rule) should the marriage dissolve.  With the bias of the family courts, a woman has to exercise much less care.  In order for her to get screwed over in the family court, we’re talking someone who has to be pretty naive, or a complete fuck-up, or both.  Stay out of jail, off thedope, and exercise a modicum of discretion, and women who get the shaft vis-a-vis a final disposition of a divorce case are as rare as hen’s teeth.  “Stack the deck” a little bit via a well placed sniffle, complaint about “being afraid” or such, and victory is all but assured.

And even those men who line their ducks in a row are dependant on the woman’s inattention or mercy to a great extent as far as their success goes.

A point is made about standards of living.  Well, let’s take a look at it.  It’s a feminist lie that men’s standard of living goes up after a divorce and women’s decreases; and it’s a lie because it is what is called a half truth.  Men’s Standard of living does go up – back up, though not to the extent it was before marriage.  Women’s goes down, but back down, though not as far as where it was.  End the marriage, and a woman will likely be better off than before she got married – and a man will be worse off.

All dross aside, fix these problems in the family court, and men will start seeing the value in marriage again.

And it’s true likewise that women might not see such a value in marriage if their advantage is removed; but to that I can only say “If your regard for the game depends on you getting dealt an extra card, that speaks more to your character – or lack thereof – than the game itself, or the person you are playing it with.”
