Egyptian Police Searching Sinai for Al-Qaida Militants

Egyptian police are searching for five suspected al-Qaida members in the Sinai Peninsula.

Police say they believe the five are Egyptians.

Authorities have tightened security in the peninsula and have distributed photographs of the five to checkpoints and police stations.

On Wednesday, Israel warned its citizens about possible terror attacks in Sinai and asked them to leave the peninsula.

Terrorists have attacked several resort towns in Sinai over the past two years.

In April, triple bombings in Dahab killed 18 people.  Egyptian authorities blamed the attacks on disaffected Bedouins in northern Sinai.

Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters.
