In Praise of Token Females
Well, we have Susan Estrogen, Hippychick Ann from Feministing, and Jill at Feministe (Usual Suspects, anyone?) all carrying on about how “unfair” it is that there are “so few” female law clerks for the Supreme Court. Oh, yea, the solution to the problem of “people who check between legs and not in transcripts” for things like this is to – well – check between legs.
And of course, by being known as the “best minority” for the position, acclaim as the “best person” will doubtless follow. At least on their planet.
Unfortunately, once sad reality sets in, we find few who have been accepted on the basis of tokenism, or affirmative action hires, who actually boast “The Reason I Got This Job Was Because I Had The Right (Genetalia, Skin Color, Sexual Preference – you name it.)”  Not to mention the amount of good liberals who are eager to talk to people they hire about how wonderful it is they were hired over more qualified white males.
Well, that is when you can actually find a liberal who practices what they preach; it’s never failed to escape my notice that the same liberals who effectively mandated quotas exempted themselves from it, and when you read books like “Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy” you find that people like Michael Moore, Al Franken, and Babs Streisand have a habit of hiring white guys when it comes to themselves. But that’s different.
No matter how one rationalizes or puts lipstick on that pig with a trowel, if you’re hiring someone based on their skin color – you’re a racist. If you hire based on sex – you’re a sexist. It’s simple and straightforward to anyone with a crumb of principle. Either you’re hiring someone based on the content of their character, and/or their resume – or you’re not. If you have to see someone to make sure they are the right race, or something, there is no moral difference between a liberal and a klansman. Same coin. Different side.
Who’s the racist – the conservative who insists that blacks can achieve and compete with whites head on – or the liberal who insists that the poor things need a perpetual head start because they will never be able to compete with whites? What do you call a politician who puts their kids in an elite academy as opposed to the public schools they insist provide a top-notch education? Of course, we’ll get straight answers from liberals on this the same day that they are up on the podium condemning Slick Willie for diddling an intern of his daughter’s generation. Yes, I know. It’s different.
Whether Liberals like it or not, it’s a Republican president right now who’s cabinet “looks a lot more like America” than his predecessor’s cabinet of white millionaires. It’s a black woman who is three heartbeats away from the Oval Office – no thanks to Liberals. And however they rationalize it, it’s the liberals who are paying more attention to the color of skin, and contents of crotches, than anyone else in this country. I guess that’s why that’s all they see in anyone else – it’s all they have in their own hearts, and all they can relate to.
Go ahead, Lefties. Keep at it. Raise another generation of minorities and women that get further marginalized as “The little engines that couldn’t so they got a free pass.” I’m sure they will continue to love you for it.
Keep telling yourselves that. You may even come to convince yourselves of your lies.

Most excellent!…

I have worked in a law office and one of the cases I am proud to have been involved in is a racial discrimination lawsuit against a food procesing company. The reason we won is that our state court of appeals recognized that we set forth, through copious quantities of deposition testimony, inclduing by white employees, a huge number of incidents against black employees that were just plain inexcuseable.
I said repeatedly that we have facts that were so bad that if we had a jury drawn from a Klavern of the Klan, they would award us a huge judgment.
The reason for this is that even, or shall we say, especially, a Klansman, will tell you that if you are going to hire a black man to do a job, then for crying out loud treat him with some dignity and respect so he can do the job.
You’re paying him. Get some work out of him if he is willing to do it! Say “Thank you” when you hand him the paycheck.
Now if he cannot or will not do the job, or fails to show up, then let him go. But no need for the bullshit.
At the same time, affirmative action is also counterproductive. Treating people differently for race and not for performance will always lead to morale problems that benefits no employer in need of quality work performed by its labor force.
It is interesting to hear that the food processing company has had far fewer “inexcuseable incidents” since. The plant manager was replaced. The morale of the workforce, of all races, is vastly improved. The company is making more profit!

I’m a man working for a Fortune 100 financial services company. I used to write software. Now I improve the processes by which others develop software and other computer related systems. I hold an advanced degree in this field. My performance reviews have been excellent my entire career. Yet I’ve been told on more than one occasion by different managers of mine that I would be a lot more promotable if I were female. I said I would wear kilts to work if it really would make that much of a difference. I’ve never heard back.
I also know through multiple sources that our company’s mandatory aptitude tests are ignored if you are female or a minority. The aptitude test is thus only a screening device to eliminate white males with lower aptitudes from employment consideration. Women and minorities with lower aptitides are still viable employment candidates.
Our company also tracks the percentage of women and minorities in management, and holds special training sessions for managers to teach them how to treat women and minorities (i.e. preferentially).

Oops I misspoke slightly… What one manager told me was not that I would be more promotable “if I were a woman”, but that I would be more promotable “if I wore a skirt”. Hence my response re: wearing kilts.

The only time I’ve ever felt actively discriminated against was when I worked as a college administrator for a school with an African-American female/feminist President.
She was aggressively promoting “diversity,” which roughly translated into hiring/promoting as few white males as possible.
My techie shop was expanding rapidly and one semester we had six new positions for recruitment.
Ms. Prez called me into her office and instructed me that I was to hire only women and/or minorities to fill these jobs.
After informing her that what she was instructing me to do was discriminatory and illegal, I told her that I would be thrilled to hire women and minorities, provided that as individuals they were the best qualified candidates for these very specific, very technical roles.
Shortly thereafter, she put me on her private “hit list” and used her feminazi network to subtly and not-so-subtly harrass me. (The Director of the Women’s Center — a Dworkin clone only uglier – was her special attack dawg. She liked to use e-mail as her “covert” medium for slander. Too bad my peeps ran the network and accidentally spooled off all her bile one week-end. Ms. Doggie was chained up after that.)
I worked under this regime of coercion for two more years, long enough to build a terrific and skilled team that whimsically also happened to be the most diverse department on campus. (We’re talking white, black, asian, latino, male, female, straight, gay, blind, young, old, fat, thin, short, tall, blonde, brunette, conservative, liberal, etc. etc.)
After I resigned for a better post, 90% of my team also quit and went on to more rewarding careers.
The still-about-to-retire Queen of Diversity continues her reign today, and has patiently orchestrated a total transformation of the school’s administration so that it’s now 85% female in all supervisory and executive positions.
Feminists are patient. And resolute. Best MRA’s take a note….
