I was thinking awhile ago that Stevo's little 8 year old daughter won't have her loving Daddy anymore, and just started crying. I know he had a 3 year old son, wife, Dad, many friends, but that little eight year old is just old enough to have gotten to know her loving Daddy well and now he's gone. My very deepest sympathy to all the family, friends and fans of this really kind and loving, tough guy. I haven't been this sad about a man dying, since my own Father died. Come to think of it, they were a lot alike in basic ways: good, kind, unashamedly loving, hard worker, not a mean bone in his body, etc. - the kind of men the world needs. May we all be better humans to help fill the void. I’m really sad about this. After years of capturing and releasing or housing pissed-off crocodiles and a variety of venomous reptiles, it’s a bit of a surprise that Steve-O bought the farm through a freak stingray assault. He was only 44 years old. I doubt that anyone else could possibly take Steve’s place as the de facto spokesperson on Animal Planet. I don’t doubt that some of his work regarding wildlife conservation will continue, thanks to his wife, and his best mate Wes, but Steve Irwin will certainly be missed and cannot be replaced. To add a touch of humor to an otherwise sad affair, no doubt some of the larger male crocodiles housed at Irwin’s Queensland Zoo are disappointed at Steve’s demise……… if only because they wanted a piece of him themselves! For those who watched the endless litanies of celebrities expressing their faux or actual sorrow on America’s behalf, immediately after 9/11, you might remember Steve Irwin’s words as being the most geniune, articulate, and sincere of the lot of them.
