But in America, normal things like flu or small illnesses cost a bomb to treat. Added to it is the fact that a drug cannot be obtained without a prescription makes it mandatory to visit a doctor and pay a huge fees to get the treatment(an average general practitioner doctors fees is about 150 dollars here in NJ and when I go through the insurance co, I pay my co pay of 15 dollars and the insurance co pays him about 65 thereby bringing the total to $80). If instead of $150 or even $80, it were something like $25 or $30, things would be a lot better. If the doctors could remove some overheads like 3 girls in their office each being paid $3000 a month to fill the insurance claims and receptionist etc, they can make a pretty decent living even at a charge of $30 per visit. And since 9 of the top 10 paying jobs in America is in the medical field and general practitioners come in that 9, I find it difficult to muster any sympathy for them. And if it were not mandatory to get a prescription to get a drug, quite a lot of people would save a bomb just by self medication for some simple ailments.

Al-Qaida Deputy Threatens New Attacks in Gulf, Israel
Al-Qaida’s deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has warned that the Persian Gulf region and Israel will be the terrorist group’s next targets.
The Egyptian-born Zawahiri issued the threat in a videotaped message that was broadcast Monday – the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States.
Zawahiri warned of “new events” and suggested that militants should target Western economic interests. The deputy-leader also accused Western powers of stealing “Muslim” oil.
Zawahiri stressed that Western leaders should be more concerned about attacks in the Gulf or Israel than violence in Iraq or Afghanistan.
He also made the first indirect threat against United Nations peacekeepers bound for Lebanon. Zawahiri said the force is “hostile to Islam.”
The message was not dated, but Zawahiri referred to the war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas.
