Caught on Tape! Liberal Democrat in Bribery Scandal Back In The News
Liberal Democrat Rep. William Jefferson (D-La) still has not been charged with a crime even though businessman Vernon Jackson was sentenced to seven years in prison for bribing the Corrupt Congressman from Louisianna.
Jackson admitted to funneling more than $400,000 to the congressman through a company owned by Jefferson’s wife and children. In return, Jefferson allegedly helped Jackson “obtain telecommunications contracts from the U.S. Army and several African nations, including Nigeria and Ghana,” according to Roll Call.
It is rumored that Jackson was thinking of retiring and joining a ministry before he admitted to bribing Jefferson.
Congressman Jefferson has denied any wrong doing despite the fact that Jackson plead guilty to bribery charges and what really grinds me is that the Liberal Democrat has yet to be charged with a crime that he is quite obviously guilty of.+
This is the year when the Democratic master plan nationally was to run against a “culture of corruption†as exemplified by corporate scandal, lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Duke Cunningham and the general smear that Big Oil and Halliburton had undue influence in the Bush administration. But that strategy fell on hard times when U.S. Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 from an FBI informant, cash later found hidden in the freezer of his New Orleans home.

The way that fell off the front page is a miracle. If you hadn’t mentioned it I would never have thought about it. Is he up for reelection? Did he steal enough money to get reelected? Has the money thawed out yet?
