Well, it’s been over five years since 9/11, and that anniversary was marked by many in the traditional fashion: bashing George W. Bush.
Here’s a quick sampler platter:
Ted Kennedy said Bush’s speech Monday night used a national day of mourning to “commandeer the airwaves to give a speech that was designed not to unite the country and commemorate the fallen but to seek support for a war in Iraq that he has admitted had ‘nothing’ to do with 9/11.” Okay then, Ted — let’s talk ’bout that girl you killed instead.
Sean Penn said about Bush, “Out of context, he’s Beelzebub — and a dumb one.” That’s funny. Being called dumb by Sean Penn is like Paris Hilton accusing you of having a whorish wardrobe.
Keith Olbermann was broadcasting live from ground zero on Monday night and went off on a Fidel Castro-length diatribe about 9/11 (Ironically, MSNBC refers to Olbermann’s show as “9-11″, because he has between 9 and 11 viewers per night). Olbermann basically blamed Bush for the two huge unnecessary and tragic holes at the site  three if you counted Olbermann’s mouth.
Hugo Chavez claims that there is good reason to believe that Bush and the U.S. orchestrated the 9/11 attacks. Say hi to Charlie Sheen for us, Hugo, and don’t let him bogart the doobage.
The movie “Death of a President,” which depicts the assassination of George W. Bush, is coming to U.S. theaters. Maybe pro-Clinton liberals can get it on ABC so we can call it even and move on.
Speaking of moving on, MoveOn.org is planning to air a cable television ad this week accusing Bush and congressional Republicans of politicizing 9/11 by exploiting the attacks to invade Iraq and win re-election. The MoveOn ad doesn’t explain how engaging in what they have always called a “wildly unpopular war” was yet somehow evil genius and a cunningly good move for somebody seeking re-election.
CNN commissioned a poll and found that the percentage of Americans who blame the Bush administration for the 9/11 attacks has risen from almost a third to almost half over the past four years. The poll question, “have you stopped blaming Bush for the 9/11 attacks, answer yes or no” seems to need some tweaking though. However, 41% did blame Clinton a great or moderate amount. Personally, I blame CNN.
In a level of articulation we’ve come to expect, Natalie Maines of The Dixie Chicks calls Bush a “dumb f$#k” in an upcoming documentary. I can’t believe that. I just can’t believe it. The Dixie Chicks warrant a documentary?
More to come as the left gallantly strives to keep Bush from getting unnecessarily political with 9/11…
In 2003, the Chicks, not to mention the Entertainment Weekly air-brusher, made a pledge to get rid of Bush.
