Book Plug: Author Hopes to “Save the Males”

Richard Doyle, with 40 years in the trenches of the men’s/fathers’ movement under his belt (No other activist, living or dead, has that distinction), has an important message for all movement members, especially its leaders.

In his latest book “Save the Males” (Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble bookstores), Doyle takes off the gloves with all the brashness and forthrightness at his command. Doyle warns that not only are men, fathers, children and families in jeopardy from modern anti-male trends, but also civilization itself. He sees that Western civilization is in the midst of a fierce culture war between those who embrace traditional manly values and those who want to change society into a “secular–progressive,” feminist-dominated community. In this book he fights the good fight for the traditional values that have served this country so well for so long. The stakes are high and time is not on our side.

In the ongoing struggle for the movement’s heart and soul, “Save the Males” poses the proposition that men must act as such and take charge of our destiny. Calling upon all major organizations and their spokesmen, Doyle argues for ultimate unification of the movement, borrowing the nation’s motto “E Pluribus Unum” (“From Many, One”); but more immediately and more practically he calls for a much higher degree of cooperation and communication. This entails putting aside petty, egotistic differences and rallying the disparate elements of the fractured men’s/fathers’ movement.

Doyle maintains that the necessary means of intra-movement communication already exist: electronically with Mensnewsdaily.com and in print with ACFC’s The Liberator. See “Save the Males” for more specific recommendations. A 2nd edition is already in the planning stage, and the author is requesting input from established movement activists.

I think the biggest mistake MRA could make is to (sincerely) pursue an agenda of “equality” and to buy into the jargon of the women’s so-called equality movement.

Part of the reason why feminism is a man-hating failure is because most women never really equality to begin with. They wanted goodies without burdens. “equality” would mean giving women more burdens which many are not capable of handling (care to see what happens when we have 50% of combat troops women?)

If women’s hearts aren’t into equality, it’s stupid to push men into it as well. Why not just be honest and admit that equality between the sexes was never possible and be done with it?

    Tony,

I agree. But unity without commitment is like how women view marriage… Do it until it does not “feel” right, becomes a chore or if it is just plain difficult. Then, take the dude to the courts for all his future earnings…

For those that don’t know Richard and/or newbies to the “cause,” I can vouch for him. Buy his book if you don’t have all the answers, like I do. ;)

Oh, and, we have unity. No one wants to commit to it, is the problem.

Don’t believe me? Just ask any fathers/children rights groups one simple question. Ask them if they believe in the Rebuttable Presumption of Equal Shared Parenting (ESP). Invariably, the answer will be, “yes.”

There are 3 major and noticeable groups. There are thousands of smaller groups. They all believe in the basic same thing. That is unity, to me. What we do not have are those that go to those groups, committing and opening their wallets and time. What we do have, are those that take and do not contribute… For some reason, most seem to think that they are “entitled” to free information and if you ask for help to promote the “cause,” they will run away as fast as they can…

Our problems are not unity. Our problems are those that take, steal, learn and then leave the cause to pursue their own selfish goals and endeavors without ever contributing back.

Amen. I agree; the MRM needs UNITY. We need a national umbrella organization. We need a manifesto. All MRAs need to realize it’s about EQUALITY right down the middle and it’s about adhering to the US Constitution. I’ve been saying this for years: UNITY NOW!!!!
