Torture, Cabbages, Kings, etc.

You know, I can say with a certainty that I think torture is barbaric and should not be practiced by the government; it is too fearsome a weapon for them to be allowed to have, and their ability to use prudence and discretion is more than a little suspect.  To say the least.

But that’s too easy.

If it were me or mine?  My kids – grandkids – brother – neices, nephews?  What if I had someone in my hands who knew where they were being held at?

I’m afraid to say it, but I’ll admit it: I’d be pulling fingernails. Serious damn business.  Be damned if I would let my son or daughter die over such a moral quibble.  There would be blood in the scuppers.  And may Allah or whoeer help them if they lie, or have harmed them.  I would be back, and their veracity and good treatment of my own would very much affect what kind of mood I was in when I returned.

I dunno.  But I have to be honest.
