Why anyone would believe that killing a harmless creature of The Goddess, would some how give them occult powers is ridiculous and wrong. These are the lazy practicioners who would much rather kill something and STEAL it's power, then to do the work of obtaining those gifts on their own. This practice harkens back to superstitious times, when black cats were rounded up to be murdered, either by being placed in to a tied sack and then thrown into a river, or used as kindling to start the pyre that some poor man or woman, accused of witchcraft, would burn to death upon. Then you have the silly Christians who think that anything the color black (which to the ancints was the color of The Great Mother and creation itself)is the messenger of The Fallen One. In fact it was the Christians whom started this disgusting practice. Black cats, being the traditional familiar of witches, in their fanatical eyes. I am a proud pagan black cat's friend and caregiver (note I do not write owner). I do not let Osiris out due to such stupidity as this. Thank you for writting about this issue.
