[...] Last week somebody posted on Sustain’d a link to an article titled “Rights, Wrong, and the Law”. The article discusses the subject of legislating morality. One of the oddest, most harmful political beliefs to emerge in the past 50 years is the notion that one cannot legislate morality. What utter nonsense. Man has always legislated morality. Sir William Blackstone, the central legal mind the post-1787 U.S. courts looked to for guidance wrote, “The primary and principle objects of the law are RIGHTS and WRONGS.” That’s clear enough.
I agree with Chas. Those who tout this phrase are the very same who wish to induce the "vox populi" to accept moral relativism. One must understand that both malum prohibitum and malum in se are legislated for the common good.

Lesson 1 The "legal system" is about money, power and control, not about right and wrong! Now the original "system of Law" we started with ,is about right and wrong, it's about justice( as most of us understand justice).
In judge Blackstones time, we still had a system of law and the state was the servant. It worked and it worked well. OH sure there were some misccarriages of justice and griveous wrongs done, but not like there is today.
We need to go back to a system of law, just like judge Blackstone advocated. Yes we do legislate morality and we always will! Our standard needs to go back to right and wrong. stop giving people Priviledges that resemble rights, but come off the back of others who never wanted that. Make people "grow up" socially, legally and morally.

Be certain, everyone who says, “Don’t legislate morality,” intend to legislate something other than morality.
