Dept. Of Homeland Stupidity: Football Stadiums, Is The Threat Real?
My favorite idiots that man the higher ranks of the Dept. Of Homeland In-Security are downplaying a threat that Islamic Terrorists will strike American Football Stadiums this sunday afternoon.
Is the threat real or fake? Either way, should the DHS be taking this so lightly?Â

Reports indicate that the threat was made on an Islamic website, but I am unaware of where the threat was posted. Who posted the threat and where it was posted would be a key issue here. There are literally thousands of Islamic websites in which all kinds of threats are made on a daily basis. But certain users are known to be connected, while most others seem to be teenage Muslims full of bluster and living out their snuff fantasies.
A source, using his handy “Combat Terrorism” toolbar, found this on a thread posted on a non-Islamic forum which has been taken offlline. It reads:
On Sunday, October 22nd, 2006, there will be seven “dirty” explosive devices detonated in seven different U.S. cities; Miami, New York City, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland. The death toll will approach 100,000 from the initial blasts and countless other fatalities will later occur as result from radioactive fallout.The bombs themselves will be delivered via trucks. These trucks will pull up to stadiums hosting NFL games in each respective city. All stadiums to be targeted are open air arenas, excluding Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, the only enclosed stadium to be hit. Due to the open air, the radiological fallout will destroy those not killed in the initial explosion. The explosions will be near simultaneous, with the cities specifically chosen in different time zones to allow for multiple attacks at the same time.
The 22nd of October will mark the final day of Ramadan as it would fall in Mecca. Al-Qaida will automatically be blamed for the attacks. Later, through Al-Jazeera, Osama bin Laden will issue a video message claiming responsibility for what he dubs “America’s Hiroshima”.
In the aftermath civil wars will erupt across the world, both in the Middle East and within the United States. Global economies will screech to a halt. General chaos will rule.
Now I wonder. The Sunni Al Qaeda were quite put off when the Circus midget Dictator of Iran, Ahamdinejad was getting all of the attention of the American News media and that of the bloggers. Now the other Midget Dictaster, Kim Jong “mentally” Il has been the center of attention with his nuclear stand off with the world, the Islamic Terror Group headed by Osama bin Laden is starting to miss the spotlight, so they start screaming “Death to America” as if to say, “Look at Me!!!” just like Cindy Sheehan does from time to time when she starts to feel withdrawl from the spotlight that has become like Crack Cocaine to her.

I don’t know what to think about all this. I do know that both Republicans and Democrats ignored past warnings and look what happend…BOOM! Our world of safety and security came crashing down all around us on Sept. 11, 2001. On that day, all of our lives changed despite the fact that Democrats and even many Republicans are living and thinking as if it were still Sept. 10th, 2001.
It’s a well known fact that the Islamic Terrorists are counting on the high level of Incompetence and total lack of Leadership within the Dept of Homeland Security, and the fact that a TSA Federal Security Director probably would not know a threat if it blew up in his face.
I am skeptical but at the same time, I wonder…Could they? And we all know the answer to “Would They?”

Being a chronic attendee of sporting events — usually Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Mich. State games, I’m constantly amazed by looking around and seeing just how easy it would be to smuggle something in that would do serious damage. I’ve been let right through the line while wearing a big coat, etc, without scrutiny at some of these places. I see women with large purses being let through, or if they DO look in them, they’re only looking for booze bottles and such.
There’s little competent dome security at key points either… not enough at least to make it certain that nobody could have access to the ventilation system — a possibility that could wreak BIG havoc.
Stadiums make the “most sense” for terrorists due to the obvious concentration of people and little or no immediate escape possibility, bottlenecks, etc. Think about it, how many exits are there to these stadiums? A handful. It wouldn’t take too many armed men to hold 70,000 people hostage.
Unfortunately, it’s going to take a tragedy to wake us up as to this specific threat.
That said, go Tigers!

Having worked at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids for the TSA, I can honestly tell you that the bunch of Schmucks I worked for there are dumber then a sack full of rocks. One of the screener Managers claims her glowing qualifications was that she worked for the airlines. “Coffee, tea or me” seems to be what got her the job.
The other one, he worked in a casino at one time, but judgeing by his hair cut, I believe he was probably a lounge lizard.

RJ, I flew out of GRF last month and I must say it seemed disorganized to say the least. Maybe it’s part of the TSA’s clever ruse to lull terrorists into believing they’re complacent! Uh… but I doubt it… Richard Burton himself couldn’t even act that convincingly.

The Screeners are not the problem, the management and supervision are the weinies that have turned airport security into the clusterfuck that it is today.
