Barrons: Republicans Will Retain House and Senate Control — “Disenfranchised Voters” Warming Up in the Bullpen

Barrons Magazineテつhas performed a good in-depth analysis of all the congressional races that will be decided in just a couple of weeks.

Their conclusions may give Democrats the trots:テつRepublicans will remain in control of the House and Senate.

Our analysis — based on a race-by-race examination of campaign-finance data — suggests that the GOP will hang on to both chambers, at least nominally. We expect the Republican majority in the House to fall by eight seats, to 224 of the chamber’s 435. At the very worst, our analysis suggests, the party’s loss could be as large as 14 seats, leaving a one-seat majority. But that is still a far cry from the 20-seat loss some are predicting. In the Senate, with 100 seats, we see the GOP winding up with 52, down three.

If thisテつproves to be the case, hang on to your hats, because once certain congressional Democrats are saved by emergency personnel after having been found sitting in their garages with the door down and their cars running, they’re going to be looking for excuses, not to mention doing more finger pointing than an overcaffeinatedテつauctioneer.

I love the smell of disenfranchisement in the morning! That’s right, there will be more calls for recounts, etc., perhaps on a record-setting level.テつ

The deployment of NAACP representatives to ten states to look for “irregularities” in the coming election is a dead giveaway of the comingテつrehearsed spontaneity that is “disenfranchisement.” The NAACP will monitor for fair elections? Well, as long as they don’t send a group that’s biased, I guess I’m good with that.

The problem for the Democrats is that they have been in the past, and will be in the future, more concerned with looking for excuses for lossesテつthan reasons.

When John Kerry lost the presidential election, forテつexample, this wasテつanalyzed by the Democrat “experts,” and part of the problemテつwas of course discovered to have been, in essence, “too many chiefs, not enough disenfranchised Indians.”

A scant few weeks after the 2006 elections, if the Barrons predictions hold true, Democrats may be doing what their presidential nominee was doing two years earlier, when the defeated Heinz-Kerrysテつwere backテつin Nantucket, drowning their sorrows by christening the “S.S. Depression” with a couple bottles of Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac. Then Democrats, many of the same ones who ran campaigns for McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis,テつGore and Kerry, will be trying to figure out what caused them to lose the election. These Dems willテつconclude disenfranchisement, among other things, neverテつstopping to ponder or admitテつthat the real problemテつcould beテつstaring at them in the mirror every morning.

As Einstein said, “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” That’s adviceテつDemocrats should heed, but neverテつwill. If Einstein’s words hold true, the GOP can expect quite a bit of good news in the coming years, barring further Republican scandal or unforeseen Democrat enlightenment.
