Happy Birthday, MND

2006-10-22
By

I would like to take a moment to thank Mike LaSalle for providing a tool that has literally transformed the legitimate marriage movement (or men’s movement if you see it that way).

MND has become the focus point for everything we do. There is no blog that better-expresses the social goals of our movement in toto.

There are many who now look to MND for useful legislative and political analysis information. There is much going on behind the scenes now that would not have occured without MND.

MND is the only “support group” that is available 7×24 for all those good guys who wake up to surprise divorce papers and need someplace to go to study the situation and figure out what to do next. This alone is a major accomplishment.

MND is now a leading blog on the internet. It was rated #128 in a survey this year. That is a major accomplishment considering there are millions of blogs in the netiverse. As this movement snowballs, I would expect it to be in the top-25.

Expressing the value of MND, we could apply the words uttered by Kipling’s elephant’s child: “Vantage number one.  I couldn’t have done that with a mere smear nose!”

I encourage all to thank Mike by making at least a small donation to MND. This movement would go back to the dark ages without it.

While making your donation, feel free to sing “happy birthday to Mike”. And keep your windows open around the house so you can hear the chorus down the street!

Please add your words of thanks to Mike as a comment to this article.

    Mike,

Thanks for everything. I know I have written some things that have probably made you wonder to yourself, “What was I thinking?” But thanks for the help and support you have given all of us with this wonderful medium.

    Happy Birthday!

Thank-you Mike for creating a source of readily available information on the men’s movement…

However by allowing MND to become a bastian of extreme right wing thinking that unquestioningly supports the GOP…Whose members have done virtualy nothing for the male gender on the national level and have intentionally betrayed men by voting for VAWA…Is in my opinion a grave mistake since the GOP is only using disenfrancised men for their votes by throwing a sop or two to us on the state level as they have done here in Georgia…

Unfortunately it will take a third party to bring the issus that concern men to the forefront and bring about lasting reform, change and a long awaited relief from femininst oppression…Supporting the GOP is merely a detour on the road to ultimate victory and the quicker men create their own party the sooner the victory will come…

Mike could/should have banned me long ago.

I have typically as a poster, sometimes with intentional provocation, tested the boundaries of all the so-called MRA sites, and in most cases the site mods have proved that they are not supporters of true free speech.

I am not by nature or inclination or via experience inclined to be conservative politically.

Mike LaSalle’s tolerance of a wide range of opinions, many of which must disgust his sensibilities, have caused me to re-think my personal political views.

MND exhibits the quality of integrity that the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote some silly little-read document called the Constitution.

Too bad if Mike gets arrested next week as a terrorist suspect, he has no expectation of being guaranteed his rights of habeus corpus.

But that is trivial in light of another “Happy Birthday!”

    All,

It is most interesting to see so many who are quite upset with Republican handling of social policy. So am I. Republicans did the opposite of what they said they would do. But I don’t see anyone suggesting that Democrats did any better. It is this universal rejection of both parties by a very large body of voters that is driving collapse of both parties.

I did strongly support Republicans in the early 90′s, after many years of abuse of men by Democrats. I was horrified when they passed PROWA. I have been talking about it ever since.

And, while just about everyone is justifiably angry at Republicans for failing to deal with social issues in ways that migrate from the entitlement-driven-divorce-state towards a natural state of marriage as the norm, I don’t see any MND bloggers suggesting that electing Democrats will fix the problem. Thats because it won’t.

There are no leading 2008 presidential candidates that are reading voter sentiment and speaking to it.

I don’t know which party will take the lead. The fact remains is that if one of them does not, America will see a third party winning elections. This reality will necessarily cause one of the parties to change.

Speaking of third parties, Lieberman is not the answer either. He blamed all of society’s problems on men in his book, and had some choice things to say about “deadbeat dads”. In my experience, Libertarians are the most knowledgeable candidates. Unforturnately, I don’t see them winning elections.

While anything could happen here, it appears that Republicans would be more likely to step up to the plate, because there are a large number of grassroots base organizations that know what the problem is and have wanted change too. Conversely, I don’t see a major organizer in the classic Democrat grassroots base that would demand it.

I have a first-rate analysis of our confused political system to be published this week. Keep an eye on MND…..

Mike, your site has become a beacon to growing numbers of men for information and a chance to exchange opinions and perspectives.

    Very well done.

You have my thanks for running your site as fairly and impartially as I have seen in any case.

Whether or not you will ever get credit for being one of the incubators of the Men’s Rights Movement, you have made your site available at the right time, encouraged some of the MRM’s leading minds to participate and contribute their works, and thus provided the greenhouse for further growth of the movement.

Don’t expect any birthday cards from Kim Gandy and her ilk.

But thanks and best wishes from me, and many happy returns.

The primary problem with Lieberman is that he drank the Kool-Aid that RESPONDENTS in divorce are the cause of most of the problems.
How dare these modern day Sparticus’s and Nat Turners lead the slave revolt!
It is a lot like blaming the passengers of the Titanic for the sinking of the boat.
Anyway, Mike, thanks for expanding the reach of our Internet speech with MND.
Who knows? Some members of a federal grand jury will read MND and the websites of those of us who post here, and then support enforcers, divorce lawyers, and family court judges will adopt a new nickname: Ham Sandwich!

    Mike…where’s the cake?

Of course Mike has to be a great, compassionate, caring, genius, wonderful, (what did I leave out?) person for even letting some nobody like me have fun, and even get serious sometimes.

Really, Happy Birthday MND…and here’s to much more success in the future. Pass the punch, and the dictionary.

Happy Birthday. And thanks Mike for providing articles and a forum to express our thoughts freely.

You are on the forefront of a movement that honors what was lost about forty years ago, yet was around for thousands of years, toward being a man again.

    Keep up the great work.

My congratulations to Mike, on the anniversary of MND and also my thanks for the opportunity to express my views.

To David thanks for your normally well reasoned blogs, and this one was no exception. There really isn’t much difference between the parties anymore and that is pretty much in accordance with Plato’s predictions that democracy will degenerate into tyranny. He states the end will be near when there are impeachments, judgments, and trials of one another. That’s where we are now.

Also thanks to Mike. He makes it all look so easy when MND is an incredibly rich forum that draws people, even those who disagree with the agenda of most members here, because of all the rich content.

I was that way with CNN, I’ll admit, when the internet first started up because I loved it’s layout similar to MND with a variety of grouped stories like a newspaper. Foxnews still hasn’t gotten it right.

I believe that it’s close to becoming a mainstream news outlet and he could start making money like drudge in the near future.

Reading MND reminds me of those rare episodes in the history of our national press when publishers were actually serious about their (implicit) public trust to inform a self-governing people.

It’s very encouraging that MND exists and that you continue to resist the temptations that come your way. You’re doing your country a service.

With all the congrats, it’s worth noting that MND and the men’s movement still has no federal BANK!

Kim Gandy goes to work everyday and has no worry about where her salary is coming from.

    Because of VAWA.

MND should qualify as a men’s support service under the new “gender-inclusive” terms of VAWA 2005. (RADAR? Any practical advice?)

I see a very cute lawsuit to petition on the basis that MND is in fact a “shelter” for men.

After all, VAWA states that a woman can be “stalked” via the ‘Net.

So, surely, a man can be “sheltered” via a male-friendly ‘Net website?

MND should be fully funded by VAWA, until gender equality of taxpayer dollars can be accounted for.

BTW, every DV Industry web site is currently receiving grants from the federal government.

    Follow the money!

Perhaps it’s time to redefine the definitions?
