Lynne Cheney’s Lesbian Romance
Did you know that Lynne Cheney, wife of vice-president Dick Cheney and mother of the openly gay activist Mary Cheney, wrote in 1981 a lesbian romance novel? Not many people do, but in light of the Bush administration’s support of a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages, that book is being brought back out into the light and the New York Theater Workshop recently performed scenes from it.

New York Daily News explains:

“Choice scenes adapted from “Sisters” included one in which two female characters write to each other:

“Let us go away together, away from the anger and the imperatives of men. We shall find ourselves a secluded bower where they dare not venture. There will be only the two of us, and we shall linger through long afternoons of sweet retirement.”

“One of Cheney’s characters swoons to a Sapphic love letter:

“How well her words describe our love – or the way it would be if we could remove all impediments, leave this place, and join together … Then our union would be complete. Our lives would flow together, twin streams merging into a single river.”

One wonders what passions burn in the secret corners of Lynne Cheney’s heart…

Besides, what is conservative about her Wilsonian, Compassionate Conservative husband? In the name of conservatism this administration has outdone Clinton’s big government liberalism and internationalism by leaps and bounds.

How about we look for a real conservative? Just a thought.

After Vietnam, our troops were spit on when they returned home. This time, our troops should be spitting on the hippies. The only thing Iraq has in common with Vietnam is a bunch of pee in their pants hippy cowards who are now all ACLU lawyers, Democrat politicians, teachers, and reporters, who to turn public opinion against patriots, and write laws to weaken our ability to fight this war. They are all celebrating polls that show a majority of the US are now against the war. I think we should be making a list, of all these cowards and hold a symbolic spitting ceremony by our soldiers, on all these anti-American Soros-sucklings. The only ones I see, who have not become cowards, are Dick Cheney, and as you point out his wife Lynn Cheney, and Rick Santorum. The Republicans deserve to lose in 2006, if they donâ€™t start believing in our military. All I hear when I listen to their debates is we all want the troops to come home, too. They are caving in to the cowardice of the cry baby Democrats, who are like bratty kids in the back seat of the car, on a long trip saying, daddy are we there yet? They need a good slap. We have 350,000 troops in 130 countries. I donâ€™t hear anyone asking, why we are still in Germany, Japan, and South Korea? These hippy cowards are projecting their own fears on our troops, and playing to the weakness, of our women voters, and castrated male voters who donâ€™t understand the military, with pitiful rhetoric, of why we must bring our kids home now. Their crusade of denigrating this war has resulted in a self-fulfilling prophesy, which they are celebrating. When I watch programs made by Special Forces, the only thing I hear them complaining about, is they have to go through all that training, and never get used in combat. We have a volunteer force in Iraq who clearly wants to fight this war to win, and a bunch of cowards at home who want us to lose, who are celebrating polls that show they have been successful, in turning a majority of the US against the war.

Some of these deployments have existed for nearly 50 years, as in Japan, Germany, and South Korea, while other deployments have more recent origins such as the current occupation of Iraq. Soldiers have been receiving many incentives for reenlisting like job reclassification and new duty assignments to Europe on top of reenlistment bonus averaging $10,000 dollars. Soldiers have also been reenlisting for the one semester of college, which allows the soldier to further their career and increase opportunities for promotion and advancement. As of January 2005, there are some 250,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen deployed in support of combat, peacekeeping, and deterrence operations. This figure does not include those forces normally present in Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom or Japan unless bases at those locations are actively supporting a combat operation. Furthermore, tours of duty in these locations are routine and not considered hardship tours. If one were to include these forces the number of deployed troops worldwide would be around 350,000.
