The Opinion Research Poll shows that among likely voters, Webb was the choice of 50 percent of those surveyed while 46 percent favored Allen and 4 percent were undecided.
It seems like eons ago, but just a couple months ago, George Allen had a double-digit lead. Allen’s camp did not take Webb seriously; he was regarded as a no-name candidate with no chance of winning in a red state.
Allen’s handlers perceived the Virginia Senate race as a means of showcasing Allen as presidential material.
Then came Allen’s August 11 ”Macaca” moment which opened the door for a tidal wave of allegations about his racist behavior toward African Americans in the past.
The Macaca slip and the ensuing stumbles cost Allen a few points, but the polls still showed him in the lead. Unfortunately in a state where Confederate flags and mullets are as ubiquitous as Golden Arches, an accusation of racism is far from the unpardonable sin.
Then with just over a week to go before the election Allen scraped the bottom of his bag of dirty tricks, and he took a few salacious excerpts from Webb’s novels and tried to paint the Democratic challenger as a pervert.
Apparently this was the last straw for many Virginians, they were completely turned off by Allen’s low down trick. They realized that Allen was trying to smear Webb by taking a few racy passage out of context.
James Webb is a decorated war hero, a brilliant novelist and a statesman, and if there is a God, he will be elected to the Senate.
George Allen can take his bag of dirty tricks back to his Confederate flag decorated home and dream about what could have been.

So painting Allen as a racist for saying “macaca” (which is such an obscure, non-offensive word that you have no problems using it freely unlike the N word) after having a democrat operative follow him around is “war hero” behaviour while writing about soldiers sticking their penis into little boy’s mouths is perfectly normal.
And you then wrap it all up in a bow by making an unofficial prayer to “God”.
Hmmm, I seem to remember predictions about another war hero with a closet full of medals from rice wounds and the expert at 4 month wars to win the presidency. That didn’t quite work out, did it?

John Kerry’s purple heart medals were bogus, and at the time I strongly condemned him for perpetrating a fraud on the American public.
James Webb is a genuine war hero and the next senator from the state of Virginia.

‘James Webb is a…brilliant novelist…’
So, Webb’s filth is ‘brilliant’ writing, huh?
That is your only comment on the Webb filth scandal?
Just like the elite media you represent so well in all your writing, are you burying this story so you will not have to explain why:
…Your outrage over Webb’s portrayal of the brutal misogyny of his protagonists seems to be as missing from your writing as it is from elite media ‘reporting’?
…Your outrage over Webb’s consistent portrayals of 3rd World persons as cultural automata is nowhere to be found in your writing or in elite media?
…Your outrage over Webb’s portrayal of the abuse of children as sex slaves in Asian child-sex whorehouses appears to be as slack as it does in elite media?
Your lies, distortions, innuendoes, and covering support for libfem candidates such as Webb further exposes the lack of integrity and character in your professional life, just as do the pre-election antics of those anchors and writers who have been more successful than you in whoring themselves to the prestige and money offered by the networks and ‘big city’ papers.
Guess you just have not reached the same level of proficiency at lying as have those higher paid professionals.
But keep trying, ‘Robert’; from your writing it appears you are almost there.

I just thought of something (scary thought): RPR, did you READ Webb’s books before coming to the conclusion that he’s a “brilliant novelist?” You sound like some teenage girl with a poster of her heartthrob over the bed.
And I stand by my original observation: you show a tremendous lack of sincerity in going nuts over obscure “macaca” terms while whitewashing (pardon the pun) homo-pedophile remarks made by Webb. It’s all posturing and YOU know it and EVERYONE else knows it too.

The polls say it so it must be true! I wouldn’t get too lathered up just yet. I could generate polls too, it doesn’t mean squat at the end of the day. The only poll that counts is the one on Tuesday.
Amazing how the left ignores Webbs racist past, all the while blowing Macaca completely out of proportion. Of all the name calling, macaca is positively mild in comparison.
With any luck, Kerry will be coming down to help out Webb’s campaign.

I’ve heard more racism from you than anyone else. So I guess it’s good racism doesn’t matter there.

Seems any dem who served (no matter his record) is a “decorated war hero”. That’s because dem veterans are few and far between. Not to mention, liberal dems like you hate the military.

From Wikipedia:
After graduating from Annapolis, Webb was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War as a first lieutenant rifle platoon leader in Company D in the 1st Battalion of the 5th Marine Regiment, as part of the Fleet Marine Force. Webb earned a Navy Cross, the second highest decoration in the Navy and Marine Corps for heroism in Vietnam. Webb also earned the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts.
Webb received the Navy Cross for actions on July 10, 1969. The citation read:
The Navy Cross is presented to James H. Webb, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam. On 10 July 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb’s platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex which appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers. Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade which detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search which yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence data. Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.[1]

We’ll see who is right on November 8th. I have a feeling that on that day the media will again have to come up with some kind of explanation as to why all of their polls were wrong again.
Piss off a terrorist and vote Republican. Really piss off a terrorist and get two other people to vote Republican as well.
