Vote!

Tuesday, November 7, 2006
By Doug Powers

Well, today’s the big day! (For Republicans… Democrats vote on Wednesday 11/8. Just kidding — it’s Thursday 11/9) I voted at just after 7 a.m. and am proud to say that I was in no way disenfranchised, even though it was raining, so it wasn’t for lack of some evil force trying.

Early returns are coming in, and we have a shocker in the Florida Senate race between Katherine Harris and Bill Nelson. Exit polling is as follows: Nelson, 36%, Harris 29%, and Pat Buchanan has 45%.

In another election, don’t forget the “Glennates,” which is like the Senate but for a radio talk show. Syndicated radio host Glenn Beck, who is also the host of his own nightly program on CNN Headline News, is having fans vote on a committee of sorts, and friend of this site, Resa Kirkland, won the primary last week and is up against an opponent in today’s general election. Help Resa become a “Glennator” by clicking here and giving her a vote! If you don’t have another favorite, choose Washington as your state and help put Resa in the Glennate!

Good luck at the polls everyone, and may the least unconstitutional candidate win!

Watch here for further updates and the numbers start coming in late today.

Update: Let the parade of doofuses begin!

Drudge has several links to “problems” that are already arising:

Voting Machines Woes Cause Early Delays…
Poll Workers Struggle With Touchscreen Tech…
*PA Problems…
**Trouble In Indiana; May Extend Hours…
***Denver: Problems…
****Fixing charges fly in Utah town…
*****Ky. Poll Worker Charged With ‘Choking Voter’…
******Hundreds Get Wrong Ballots In Central Florida…
*******Dem lawyers in TN going to court to keep polls open late…

Geez, whatever happened to just putting an “X” on a piece of paper?

Update II: Finally, a voter who was actually disenfranchised. Actually he was choked by an election worker, but that might qualify as disenfranchised to some.
