SO, if I understand your point, you say “Yo, Toubrouk! Why don’t you just drop your culture and let it die!”? I don’t think so.

You see Gvil, it’s easier to take the land than own the people’s regard if you try to assimilate them. Anglo-Canadians try for years and we are still here. Here, we are barely 6 millions in Quebec against more that 300 anglos in North-America. Of course, we are holding our own. As one of our poet once said:”Like a glacier at the top of a volcano”. My family landed in North-America 350 years ago and they were all speaking french until today. I don’t see why I should stop speaking it or not teach it to my children.

Badger, If we still speak French here, it’s not by the goodwill of the queen of england, It’s because we fight to get out rights respected. We will continue to fight until Canada give us enough tools to ensure that our culture will survive or we will leave. This is not supremacism, it is cultural survivalism.

I cannot attribute this quote to myself but I wish I had said it.

Our secessionists sound exactly like you’d expect, whether they’re from Alberta or Quebec. They’re callow adolescents or arrested personalities that have the same personal esteem issues of other separatists and supremacists. I was always and will always be proud of Canada’s diversity and uniqueness. That includes Quebec’s culture and history not to mention its natural beauty. Same goes for Alberta.
There’s always going to be people trying to cantonize the world. Hell you’ll have freakish cults trying to declare independence for their farms. Regressive tribal stupidity will only be overcome through education and time.

Toubrouk you are making my point for me. The British acquired Quebec as part of the spoils of war. However their minuscule attempts to assimilate Quebec to their culture leads us to where you are now, a divided country.

Gvil, As a French-Canadian, I see that you don’t understand our problems. You see, French settlers were there way before Anglos. In fact, France sold us in 1763 in the hope of of keeping some islands in the caribeans.

Many fellow French-Canadians in fact see the anglos as the mexicans trying to speak spanish! Uncle Sam want to know what laws to use to protect English in the U.S.? Maybe he can visite us in Quebec to see what we do to protect our way of life.

This is the perfect example of why we need to keep the USA English only. Which part of the the USA will we have to cede to the illegal immigrants in the next 20 years or so, South Florida, Arizona, California? I’m in South Florida and most of the sale ads that come to my house are both in English and Spanish. When I go to most stores the products are labeled the same, and when I turn on the radio or t.v. it seems that more stations cater to those that have no desire to learn and speak English. I won’t be long till they start howling for independence because they claim they are different and separate peoples from the rest of the USA.
