Muslim Congressmen

Representative Elect Ellison, from Minnesota, is the first Muslim member of congress; and he is expressing his desire to be sworn in on the Koran, for which he is being roundly attacked by many people.

Let me say this, then, for the record: Let him.  His Koran today, my Bible tomorrow.  It’s that simple of a principle.

Let’s also get another thing clear, too:  If you want to call it “bigotry” I am fine with it, but I don’t like Islam or Muslims.  I would never have voted on him – solely because he is a Muslim.  I won’t live next to, hire, or associate with Muslims.  I won’t do business with them. And the last time I had to deal with one at a company picnic, I made it a point to have a plate of barbequed pork and a beer.  I’d disown my son and heir if he converted.  I wouldn’t do that if he became and avowed Satanist.

By my own definition I am a bigot about Islam.  I think it is an inferior religion, and even satanically inspired – more so than Satanism itself.  I question the morality and intelligence of anyone who claims to be educated and doesn’t leave it.

So, I’m not soft on Islam.  And the fact that Americans have elected one to congress, of all places, both disgusts me and fills me with despair.  This is a religion which has declared war on the west, where so-called moderates are a fringe group, and which has no respect for the ruling principles our country was founded on.

Nonetheless, duly elected, in a duly constituted election.  Take your seat, Congressman.  Do note that the microscope is up your arse, and I am frankly hoping you fail.  I can’t lose either way – if you vote as a “good Muslim” it will be most entertaining to see your good buddies on the left defend you as I do the “Told ya so!” dance – if you don’t, it will be my pleasure to call you sixteen kinds of hypocrite.  I have read the Koran, you see, and I know that to be true to Islam, your beliefs are incompatible with any flavor of democracy.

I don’t like you, Rep. Ellison.  Because you are Muslim.  But I don’t have to in order to accord you rights under our constitution.

I tend to believe these rights near absolute.  Near.  I’m a fervent gun-rights supporter, but I believe people can piss away that right by abusing it.  Same with religion.  I don’t think Islam has forfeited that right.

Yet.  But ya’ll are doing your damndest, ain’t ya?  Not quite yet, though.  You will, I have no doubt, eventually.  I don’t believe your – how did your Rev. Farrakhan put it? – “Gutter Religion” will be long to show its true colors, like you did in Canuckistan when it lobbied for Sharia law.  So, I have faith in you.  Sooner or later you will cheer the murder of  “Joos” and all but your most ardent of the “Hate America First” crowd on the left will abandon you.  My confidence in you to live down to my lowest expectations knows no bounds.

Until then, though, I welcome you to participation in civilization.  We shall see how successful you are in aping your betters.  Until then, though – go ahead and swear on that Koran.

You’re being watched, though.
