Dear stands2p,
Universal Health Care would seem to cut out a lot of extra paperwork and inflated prices of medical care. Marijuana Decriminilization would free thousands of potentially productive citizens to be productive, rather than imprisoned, as well as allowing those funds to go towards much needed improvements in citizen protection against violent crimes. Or we could just cut the drug war portion out of our taxes. Way too much money is spent on locking up or penalizing people for what is a medical problem, in the case of an addicted drug user. How much is too much to spend for economic justice? If we cancelled all pending wars would we have enough in the budget? Ben Cohen (ice cream) thinks so. Google his name with BBs or Oreos. He does this great chart of our national spending in a Flash animation. Also, think of all the taxes we could cut if we just ended war. As GW says, cutting taxes is good for the economy, cuz then people can spend that money. Capitalism good war bad? Anyway, if you really want to save money on taxes, end all the wars. It's really that simple. We would have plenty of money then to pay UN dues, and make the PEACE KEEPING forces better. And if we're going to call them Peace Keepers, it better not be more sick double-speak like in 1984, where they are trained only to kill, and called the department of peace. It needs to be geared towards diplomacy and helping people find common ground, and build something for the common good, or grow community food on it. Violence begets violence. Peace begets peace.
In the spirit of the season, wishing you Peace On Earth and Good Will to All.

"1. Universal Health Care...

etc. etc. etc."

That's not a policy platform, that's a letter to Santa.

Socialist have no trouble listing things they want. It's paying for them they run into trouble with. Tax The Rich is always the final answer, with The Rich being anyone who gets two paychecks in row from the same employer.
No Thanks!

"Amen! Kucinich will be more than a footnote this time around; he will be a playmaker."

He will be "a playmaker" only in what passes for the minds of the entertainingly self-deluded.

Kucinich will almost certainly remain irrelevant to American national politics.

Here's a thought - perhaps he ought to run an Internet-based campaign for president.....;-)

Kucinich is highly unlikely to garner much in terms of popular support outside of New England.

So while he may RUN for president, he will remain irrelevant to U.S. national politics.

Kucinich is eloquent. I heard him speak in person, and supported him for the nomination in 2004. He has made a political career of standing up for what is right, regardless of political and big money opposition. We need someone in the White House who is not a figure-head for organized crime! We need someone who has always stood up for the rights of all Americans, and who is not afraid to speak truth in the face of a real danger. Our economy must be based on peaceful, sustainable, and free markets, not on forced sales of weapons of mass destruction. These war criminals running the White House currently profit from sales and construction of war supplies, and by the theft of resources from murdered citizens of the world, our home, planet Earth. “Peace Good, War Bad.”, is the best slogan I have heard lately. Sure better than, "Stay the Course." Considering what the course has been. stands2p, if Kucinich cared about the opinion polls, he would not have consistently voted against the Iraq war from the start, and he would not have a history of speaking his ideals. He would have a history of going with opinion. He has the distinction of having opinion slowly come around TO HIS VIEWPOINT. Not the other way. This is because he has been right all along, and anyone with any sense that was actually aware of him would have stood with him to begin with. I firmly believe he would have gotten the nomination if it had not been for a media black-out. "Greg", your characterization of him as comical rather than eloquent makes me seriously question whether you are on the payroll of some right-wing think tank, or whether your sense of what is funny is simply broken.
If you want to know what he stands for besides ending this illegal war, go to http://kucinich.us/issues

He spells it out very eloquently, and simply.

Ten Key Issues

1. Universal Health Care
2. International Cooperation: US out of Iraq, UN in
3. Jobs and Withdrawal from NAFTA and WTO
4. Repeal of the "Patriot Act"
5. Guaranteed Quality Education, Pre-K Through College
6. Full Social Security Benefits at Age 65
7. Right-to-Choose, Privacy, and Civil Rights
8. Balance Between Workers and Corporations
9. Environmental Renewal and Clean Energy
10. Restored Rural Communities and Family Farms

Campaign Issues
*Campaign Finance
*Campaign Reform and IRV
*Electronic Voting
*Media Reform
*Open Debates

Crime/Law Issues
*Crime
*Death Penalty
*Drug War
*Gun Laws, Gun Rights & Violence
*Mandatory Minimum Sentences
*Marijuana Decriminalization

Economic/Financial Issues
*Corporate Power
*Economic Justice
*Farm Policy
*H-1B and L-1 Visas
*Jobs Programs / Infrastructure
*Manufacturing
*Minimum Wage
*Outsourcing Jobs
*Public Services
*Small Business Growth
*Social Security
*Taxes

It goes on and on. Just click on it on his page to find out where he stands. Not like most politicians, that don't want to tell you where they stand, so they can spin it this way or that in a given situation. I firmly believe his plans and ideals are exactly what this United States needs!

If you want to see his announcement of candidacy, where he explains why he is running, go to http://kucinich.us/node/728

Wishing you all the best, and that we will all work together to realize the dream of the world that we all want to live in.

"Kucinich eloquently argues"
"Eloquent" is not a word that most would attach to him. "Comical" is about as nice as it gets. How this moonbat keeps getting reelected speaks volumes about his constituents. Aside from hating the war, what else does he stand for? Face it, he's a one trick pony.

I ran as a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Vermont in 2006 as an independent. During the campaign I advocated that we establish an "Internet Democracy" system which would allow citizens greater participation in the governance process by creating and publicly endorsing specific proposals.

I voted for Dennis Kucinich for President in 2004. I'm likely to support him again in 2008. I think he may be "the decider" for the Democrats at the convention. He can conceivably get enough delegates to make the difference as to who becomes the Democratic candidate.

Let me guess "is" s/b "if" and "president" s/b "President."

Kucinich and his fellow socialists will run on simplistic slogans aimed at the poorly informed and vaguely idealistic, a.k.a. the Democratic base. They may do well. The fact remains, they have no plans beyond following the results of the next opinion poll. No thanks.

“Peace Good, War Bad.”

Maybe if one of the president's advisers articulates the Iraq mess is those simplistic terms, Bush might finally face reality and bring our troops home.

Kucinich's entry is a bellwether for the Dem/Socialist '08 campaign. They have no ideas and no plans. Their slogan will be "Peace Good, War Bad."
