Marriage may change here in Texas. That’s because a state representative has proposed a law that would allow “covenant marriages.” Texas State Rep. Bill Zedler’s bill would allow existing marriages to be converted into covenant marriages.

No law is ever going to stop a judge from reading their own “interpretation” (i.e. bias) into it. Although the tide is slowly beginning to turn — extremely slowly — divorce judgments are still going to overwhelmingly favor women over men for the forseeable future regardless of the type of marriage / union / cohabitation arrangement.

The ubiquitous ‘They’ broke the first Marrige concept. They tried watering it down to nothing. They tried marrying dogs to cats. They tried just one person marrying and the other sponging. And they claim a lack of commitment, blaming men of course. It’s a woman’s ‘right’ to change her mind. Suffer the little children. Where’s the millstone?

Laws are always abused. If a couple wants a divorce, I don’t think anything will stop them. And think how unhappy someone would be if their spouse was forced to stay with him/her without actually wanting to. That would not make for a very happy marriage! But at least that type of marriage is an option, and people will no doubt think long and hard before going ahead with it. I just hope little love-struck “kids” don’t get married that way, because most times they are too young to know who they are and what type of person they want to be with for the rest of their lives.

I’m sorry, but I see a can of worms here. Sure, it SOUNDS as if it makes it harder to divorce, but it’s really just a feel-good measure.

And what constitutes “abuse”? What about infedility?

Could it open up men to more “punative” damages by having a stricter contract? I can see the lawyers salivating now.

And it becomes costlier to divorce. Lawyer fees, private detectives, “expert” witnesses to “prove” abuse by the mean old man, and rebuttal witnesses and experts.

Do you really think this is going to help men?

Beleive me, ANYTHING that doesn’t explicitly increase men’s rights is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

This law would end up being abused.
