Persecuting and Brutally Murdering Christians
Kottayam (India), SVM News, 14 December, 2006: An anti christian, claimed as a leader of an Islamic militant group threatened me by telephone with naughty words and gave me warning to count down the days of myself and my whole family. He was very angry and was shouting like anything.
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21). My wife also have some courage. But all my three children, particularly the youngest son of 12 years old having so much fear in his mind. During the night time he sees bad dreams and waking up in a sudden with loudly crying. We try to give him hope, we pray for him by sealing the precious blood of Jesus and ask him to repeat ‘the Blood of Jesus is our Victory”. He does it, but still some fear ruling over him. He doesn’t allow my other children to sleep in seperate rooms. He wants all of the five members together in a room. When he cry, my daughter also start crying. I request the children of God to continue praying for us, especially my children Besly (18), Hepzy (17) and Lesly (12). The intercession of the children of God is our Fort.
Dr. Shameema Badru, one of the strong believer in Jesus from Islam seriously injured. Gunmen entered the home of Dr. Shameema and shot her at pointblank range. She got four bullets, which damaged vital organs like the kidney, liver and caused other major internal injuries. She is now fighting for her life in the hospital. Dr. Shameema is a mother of four, lost her husband Abdul Majeed Dar, who was the President of the dar Foundation  was shot on November 28, 2003 at Srinagar by unidentified militants.
Aashir and Tahira are the missionaries in J&K. Pray for them and their new born baby Noorul Masih.
Pray for the family of Martyr Bashir Ahamed Tantray, who was killed two  weeks in Jammu & Kashmir because of spreading the Gospel. Pray for his wife, daughters Shabnam (18) and Shakeena (14) and sons Ajas (16) and Adil (11).
Still there is no news about Pastor Habel of the At Anycost Jesus Mission. He is kidnapped on 17th of November. His wife Yemima and two little children Axa (3) and Victor (2) are suffering. Also there is no news about the missing daughters of the murdered missionary couple Dr. Mehaboobs named Sherin (11) and Shelvin (7). Pray for them. Shalom and Sharon, the older children of the martyrs Dr. Mehaboobs were brutally murdered on 1st of September.
Many of the first Christians, who are called Apostles and Disciples were persecuted and brutally murdered. Lord Jesus’ name sake they gladly suffered it until their death. For us Christians, we don’t mind to suffer persecution and death on His behalf. If we suffer, we will not be ashamed; but glorify God. Suffering persecution is a gift. And we are sure that we will be having an eternal happiness with our Lord in heaven.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God was slain and redeemed us by His precious blood. He came down from above as God’s only begotten Son by the power of the Holy Spirit to reunite all the human beings unto the Merciful God through the sacrificial death of the Cross on the Calvary. He did it as a ransom for many. Those who are beeing persecuted and killed for Him, for the word of God and for the testimony is crying out to the Lord with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Then a white robe will be given to each of them and say to rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brothren, who would be killed as they were, was completed (Rev. 6:9-11). Certainly, those who have washed the robes and made it white in the blood of the Lamb will live with Jesus as His Bride in eternity forever. For Jesus Christ is our ever living and ever loving Bridegroom.
The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.
“For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also suffer for His sake” (Phil 1:29).
“If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf” (1 Peter 4:14-16).

I agree with this historical representation of Christianity, and that God gives the crown of martyrdom, to those who suffer for being a Christian. God had a higher purpose, for Jesus’ death, and we demonstrate of our willingness to accept the same suffering, when we eat the broken bread of his body, and drink the wine of his blood. If Christians in the US are not suffering persecution, like the Christians in the rest of the world always have, it is because, they do not have the courage to step over the lines, that might result in their suffering, and instead cave in to the pressure, and drift into apostasy. However, what Jesus did, was in the context of the Roman Empire. He didn’t want his followers, to be confused with Jewish zealots, who were in open armed rebellion. Jesus prophesied that Rome would level Jerusalem, and didn’t want his followers, to be a part of the group that was inciting Rome. He wanted them to survive that and eventually by peaceful persuasion, they would become the dominant religion, of the Roman Empire. However, this nonviolent period, not carrying a sword, and turning the other cheek, was for the period Jesus was training his Apostles, and not for all Christians, for all situations, for all times. He clearly changed this, just before he died and told them they would need to carry a sword. He didn’t want them to use a sword against the Roman authority. But he also didn’t want them to be defenseless. As long as the Christians were in the Roman Empire they were hated and persecuted, but they were protected by the Roman military, and eventually over five hundred years became the largest religion. When the power of the Roman Empire began to fail, about the time of Mohammad, Muslims took advantage of the power vacuum, in the failing Roman Empire. They conquered all of North Africa, and would have conquered all of Europe. Christians had to learn a hard lesson, to become defenders of the faith, or be totally defeated, by the Muslims. When Muslims were stronger than Christians they conquered them; when Christians were stronger than Muslims they pushed them back. It took seven hundred years to push the Muslims out of Europe, one battle at a time. Today there is a lot of confusion about this. Many Christians in my lifetime have tried to second guess, the military nature of Christians throughout history, and disassociate themselves from it; because they look at history with the cultural sunglasses of their hippy movement. Their Jesus just sat around playing a guitar and singing, would try to bring about world peace by spitting on the military, and would never expect Christians to defend their faith; it has caused the Church to become very weak, and is totally out of touch with what Christians were throughout history. It could result in unnecessary genocides of Christians. There are times when it is right to suffer and forgive, and there are times when it is right to fight to defend the faith. We will have wars, we will be persecuted, and nothing has changed. Carry a gun if you can, suffer as a martyr with honor if you can’t carry a gun, just make sure there is a point to it.

I am not a very good Catholic. I find the whole business of suffering because Jesus suffered to be an intolerable imposition. I don’t want anyone to suffer just for what they believe and see no reason to countenance either the suffering or those who insist on their right, religious or otherwise, to inflict it. I also see no reason to countenance the imposition, of the belief that we MUST suffer, on small children. Sure, life is often a bastard and we do suffer from all sorts of causes, but those who are intent on maiming and killing others, whether it is from a faux-religious imperative or not, deserve to be taken out! Whacked, as Tony Soprano might say. Suffering is something to avoid, in my book. There are times when we must confront the irrational and hate – filled urges of others who would do us harm but it seems to me that direct action is more fruitful than passively accepting it.
I hope your suffering is relieved soon, Paul. I do not want to see you and yours made martyrs. You do not deserve that and neither do your little ones. I guess that if Jesus eventually gives me a box around the ears for taking up the sword and whacking someone with it, I just might deserve it, but I think he is more likely to forgive me. He is likely to forgive you for defending your family, forcefully, too. He is the Son of the God of Love, after all. Your Islamic protagonists worship a false God. By their fruits shall ye know them.

The most important point, of the incarnation is to show everybody, how valuable we are to God, that he wants to come into our world, and speak to us in our language, and be in relationship to us, and expressed with our culture. It should have two effects on the way we live. First, it should inspire us to try to understand the message, that he was trying to communicate to us, and explain it in our language, and express it with our culture. Second, it should also compel us to be incarnational, to take his message and explain it in another language, so that it can be expressed in other cultures, where people have not yet heard.
The most important point, of the crucifixion is to show everybody how much God suffers, to stay in relationship to us, and involved with our world. It should have two effects on the way we live. First, it should inspire us, to try to understand what we are doing, to bring suffering to God, so we can stop doing those things, and ask for forgiveness. Second, it should also inspire us to be more willing to suffer as he does, to remain in relationship with people, not by your tolerance, but by your forgiveness.
