The third one got my attention, toward the end of that video. The man dressed as superman says he once had joint custody, has spent over $300,000, and now has no custody. He’s a Disneyland dad, presumably relegated to a couple days per month in which he can have a fun day at Disneyland with his kid but can’t forge any lasting bonds. The clincher was when he said that his custody situation was determined because the mother decided so.

Men have responsibilities, women have options.

Also, one more thing about so-called “Disneyland dads.” A 1998 academic study by two researchers at the University of California at Irvine found that if there is a divorce or separation, children do better when in custody of their fathers.

The study was entitled, “Advantages of Father Custody and Contact for the Psychological Well-Being of School-Age Children.” The authors are K. Alison Clarke-Stewart and Craig Hayward.
