“Here is the simple meaning in context of the words spoken today by President Bush. Three years ago President Bush announced that he was launching a ‘Crusade’. This is why Muslims refer to Americans as ‘Crusaders’. The Crusades were a thousand years ago when the Pope marched his Christian army across Europe massacring every Jew in their way to reclaim the Holy Land, Israel, for Christianity, until the Crusaders stood knee deep in Muslim blood in Jerusalem. So far President Bush has conquered Muslim Afghanistan and Muslim Iraq and now he is threatening Muslim Syria and Muslim Iran.”

The writer doesn’t know what she’s talking about. The Crusades were DEFENSIVE wars which had the goal of turning back Muslim aggression. Nothing more.

That’s a very interesting bit of revisionist history and creative!

Because one consequence of the success of the “defensive” crusades was an imperialistic assault by European Christians to conquer the West Indies and the New World (Mexico, Central, and South America…)

The English, French, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese christians all agreed about one thing, while they were fighting each other to own tea, spice, gold, and land.

And that was just this —

It’s OK to kill indigenous people if they obstruct YOUR “discovery” of their homes.

Actually, it was official Christian “policy” that if you severed the head of a non-believer, then the victim’s soul went straight to Heaven.

Before the Europeans arrived in the West Indies (for the non-tourists in MND’s readership — the Caribbean … the Islands … Our Casino Backyard…)

There were 3 million Caribs and Amerindians.

Today, thanks to a religion based on salvation, there are approximately 100,000.

So, the bluntly obvious conclusion is that RELIGION IS THE MAJOR SOURCE OF MURDER on this tiny planet.

Am I incorrect?

DWG Every civilization did these kinds of things before and after Christianity arrived. It has nothing to do with religion. There is nothing the Christians or Muslims did that is any different than what Europeans had done to each other for thousands of years, or that is any different than what native American people did to each other for thousands of years. I agree that the crusades were not defensive in nature, but I will defend them as necessary. I also think, if you did some study on the history of Christians you would find it had a positive effect. While it may not have been a magic elixer that suddenly make every society better, over time it had a civilizing effect everywhere.

Men and women are EQUAL. If there is to be a draft then as many women as men should be drafted. Like Title 1X or is it X1 there should be a dollar spent on women’s fighting kit for every dollar spent on men’s. Indeed, as for a few centuries men have ‘dominated’ the military and the rolls of the dead, women should be given preference in the call up. Affirmative Action. And none of this sitting in the background being secretaries. Let’s see the five dozen women-only battalions (no nast harassing men with them), the women’s infantry soldier with her 60lb backpack, the rifles and body armour (Versace could design it), the female shaped body-bags. Men should give white feathers to women who try to avoid the draft. Women DEMAND eeekwaliteee.

This person must be a NWO’er as eliminating other religions is one of their goals.

If the bring back the draft, let’s bring back hanging crooked politicions, seems fair enough.

Dad With Girls, Unfortunately, since you are an anti-Christian bigot, you accept the lies peddled by popular culture. First of all, there’s no such thing as “Official Christian Policy,” and the fact that you’d use such a phrase just proves that you know nothing about this subject. Also, the claim that religion is responsible for most of the wars and death in history is asinine – the truth is just the opposite. Napoleon, Hitler, Caesar, and the list goes on and on – all launched wars for greed and personal glory – religion had nothing to do with it. Oh, I should mention that the pagan Romans – led by Julius – killed over one million people during the invasion of Gaul.

Also, the Crusades had nothing to do with the colonization of the New World – do you even known the time period that the Crusades took place in?

The Crusades WERE defensive wars, launched only because the Muslims – who had conqered ALL of the old Christian lands by the sword – were harrassing Christians pilgrims in the middle east and were starting to push into the Byzantine Empire, which lay at the door to Europe. And the Byzantine Emperor himself appealed to Pope Urban II for aid because he felt he could not hold back the Muslims. This is what sparked the first Crusade.

So, no, you’re not even close to correct. And I won’t accuse you of revisionist history, because your portrayal wasn’t history at all. It was fantasy.

Maybe you shouldn’t get your facts from Hollywood next time.

Every attempt at obtaining world peace will fail for all the same reasons all other attempts at world dominance have ultimately failed. They didnâ€™t fail because they were too brutal; they failed because of the curse of Babel, which God has not yet removed. If the hippies say they will bring about world peace, what it really means is they intend to peacefully dominate the world by their hippy ideas. They think their ideas will work better because they are not using the brutality of previous attempts at world domination. Brutality is not the problem that caused previous attempts at world domination to fail and attempting this peacefully will not be any more successful.
