New Report: Clintonista Sandy Berger Concealed Theft of Classified Documents

Former national security adviser and loyal Clintonista Sandy Berger, went to such lengths to conceal his theft of classified material from the National Archives that he hid some of the documents under a trailer at a construction site and later retrieved them, according to a report obtained by the New York Times.

The report, which was prepared by the National Archives Inspector General’s Office and released Wednesday, strongly suggests that Berger intentionally sought to coverup information regarding President Bill Clinton’s actions — or inaction — following terrorist attacks during his administration. The stolen documents also casts doubt on Clinton’s claims of thwarting a terrorist attack on LAX.

During the intense and controversial 9-11 Commission hearings in 2003, Berger reportedly spent numerous hours at the National Archives supposedly reviewing classified documents as the Clinton administration’s designated spokesperson to the members of the commission.

He was subsequently charged with stealing and destroying some of the documents, although he hadn’t spent a single day in jail. It was alleged that Berger stuffed documents into his pants and even his socks in order to surreptitiously remove the classified material.

Berger conceded that he stole and destroyed classified reports including one prepared in 2000 on the so-called millennium terrorist plots, which Bill Clinton claims he thwarted.

However, the evidence in that case shows that the Clinton Administration had nothing to do with the capture of a would-be terrorist enroute to Los Angeles International Airport. An alert female Customs officer singlehandedly captured the terrorist at the Canadian border.

It’s believed the classfied material destroyed, in part, details how the Customs officer apprehended the terrorist and how she was quickly and silently transferred and prevented from speaking with the news media.

Unfortunately, it’s not known which documents were stolen and destroyed and what those classified documents contained. Berger’s case was ajudicated prior to the release of this latest report and he cannot be charged as a result of double-jeopardy protections.
