I was slightly skeptical, given some of the things I've read about 'cold readings' and critiquest of JE. However, I do watch his show frequently and am not a non-believer. I agree that he has far too many very specific "hits" that could not be learned through internet research/quick background checks (breeds of pets that came through, name of someone who was involved in auto accident with someone coming through, odd means of death --suidicide off bridge, being shot by friend). Also, the reactions of the people being read are very genuine seeming and they do not seem like they could be plants. Besides, by now, someone would have "outed" JE if they were approached or participated in a scam. We saw JE last night at a seminar in San Francisco. The anecdote I would like to share with you involves a visit from Canada to stay with a wealthy distant relative who lives in Manhatten and a dinner with him and his television producer partner. These fellows were certainly not sympathetic to the topic and I did not reveal the level of my interest, but I knew that the producer knew staff on the John Edward Crossing Over set, and I asked him, leading him the other way "that whole John Edward thing is phoney, right?". He paused, and got all serious, and said the staff that worked there swore there was no monkey business. Rather than going to mediums, I would propose that those who are curious to find a local spiritualist church and receive readings for free. Sometimes, we can't get others to jump into our boat and validate our experience, but it's still ours to value just the same. The bottom line is, it's a lonely decision to make as to whether or not we believe. There will always be those who don't share our beliefs, no matter what they are, who feel the need to interject their 1.18 cents into your spotlight. I've hosted a website for over 6 years that was a haven for those who admire the work of John Edward, and other famous mediums. (We were even featured on his show.) We have dozens and dozens of testimonials from real people who were read read by John Edward. We also have hudreds of "signs" stories, from people who perceive that they are receiving signs from their Crossed Over loved ones. I searched my site for many different versions of "falls off wall" or other similar tersm to see if this is a common occurance. I didn't find any.
