Colorado Digs Itself Out While Louisiana Still Wallows In Self Pity

DARWIN ALERT! Funny thing is, the people of New Orleans, the very same people that re-elected two of the most corrupt, incompetent, and inept politicians since the Clintons probably won’t get or understand what this all means.

This was emailed to me by a close friend of mine and I felt it deserved to be shared and passed on as more then just another email attachment.

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the central part of Colorado after the recent snow storms that struck Colorado and even the wind storms of the Pacific Northwest.
WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic event— may I even say a “Weather Event” of “Biblical Proportions” — with a historic blizzard of up to 44″ inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to Ten’s of Thousands.

For Your Information!!!

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV .

Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit – or report on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody – I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O’Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.

No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV’s to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn’t ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people – total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is “Work or Die”.

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for ’sittin at home’ checks.

Even though a Category “5″ blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world’s social problems evaporate.

It does seem that way, at least to me.

Maybe SOME people will get the message. The World does not owe anyone anything!

Above all else, Katrina proved what an utter failure our nations welfare system truly is.

“”There is a difference between having your house filled with stinky water with holes in the walls, no windows, your neighbors house in pieces piled against your front door, green mold on the inside and outside of the house below the 6 foot water mark and having a 44″ snow bank piled on the outside of your house that melts in the spring. Don’t you think?
Remember when the Teton Dam broke in Idaho? I went into a home of a friend at Sugar City, everything above was true(stink) except there was a piano, that was not theirs, floating in the basement along with all the fruit jars from their food cellar. The friend was in his 60’s and his Mom was wiped out. The house was bull dozed down and they received the full value of the home plus some.
The Teton Dam like the New Orleans levies were maintained under the direction of the US Federal Government.
It appears that many residences in New Orleans just walked away and left the mess to others. However, maybe they were just rentals and the landlord just walked away after receiving payment.
But, like the victims of the Teton Dam disaster, the residence of New Orleans, as a result of that flood, like the flood in Idaho, were entitled to the same compensation for their loss. Most of the damage came from the Levies, that flooded their homes.
No one bitched in Idaho from the checks they received from the US Government because, from what I was told, they were a lot higher than the property values destroyed. But, there were also fewer of them, because the population effected by the Teton Flood were fewer in number.
Sometimes, you have to “Walk in the other person’s moccasins to understand their feelings”.
    Just something to think about.”"

Rogue Jew, you are flaunting your ignorance.

Comparing a snowstorm in the mountains to a major hurricane destroying 80+% of a major city and its surrounding communities is absurdly invalid. How many billions of dollars worth of damage did the snowstorm cost? Was it any where near the $81.2 billion caused by Katrina? Did you even bother to learn anything about the lies you are promoting?

Your point of view is clearly based on ignorant, elitist racism (I’m white, by the way) and is fed by a distorted image of Katrina that you lapped up like a sheep as the media fed it to you. 100% of St. bernard Parish was destroyed in Katrina. What’s St. bernard Parish, you say? Let me inform you. It is a 4,600 sq. mile middle-class community located right next to the world-famous 9th ward that was over 88% white. Uh oh, that little tidbit of truth just can’t seem to fit into the patchwork of self-serving garbage that informs your worldview.

This is just one of many nationally unknown communities that were wiped out by Katrina, but you didn’t bother to learn what actually happened in Louisiana because the skewed perspective you saw on the news justified what you wanted to believe. For some sick reason, you find it easier and more gratifying to accuse and demean rather than to empathize. Maybe you should sincerely ask yourself why that is.

This uninformed little message that you thought was so clever boasts about heroic truck drivers selflessly pulling people out of snow banks. But are you really so deluded as to believe that you can identify yourself with that type of behavior? Based on the elitist, self-serving attitude that you display here, it is much more likely that you would be the one driving right past the stuck motorists, all the while demeaning and accusing them for getting stuck in the first place. After all, if they were as intelligent and able-bodied as you, then they would be able to forsee and avoid any and all such predicaments.

If honesty or humility is anywhere to be found within you, then you will rethink your opinion about Katrina victims, both black and white. The first step will be to quit hiding behind pride and admit your own lacks and weakness. Then maybe you will be ready to learn what it means to empathize.
